Comments

haha same! i remember watching it with my girlfriend at the time and got so bored i zoned out and she was mad at me for days, but everyone has their own opinions so i hope rob and trin enjoy it if it's picked :)

Charlie West

i dont remember zodiac being interesting at all - maybe ill try to watch it again wtih you gys if its picked haha

ShaniBee

Hi Jan. I'm the one who suggested The Last Samurai for this round. Never in their initial poll suggestions post did Rob and Trin explicitly state that they did not want movies that have action or sci-fi themes this time, just that a lot of the movies they've recently seen had those. The only requirement they stated was that new suggestions should have at least one of three genres (historical, drama or true story). The Last Samurai (can't speak for V, haven't seen it) easily fits within those requirements (historical and drama, yes it's also classified as a drama movie), so the fact that it also has action is besides the point. Both movies are also ones that have been suggested a lot of times already and never quite made the final cut. Now they're finally leading. People clearly want Rob and Trin to see them and now we finally get that chance. I'm sure the other movies that you want them to watch will get their chance too eventually. I'm sorry you're unhappy with the results but it is what it is. Keep voting.

Rhonu

I changed my last vote from Last Samurai to Whiplash bc it is a drama and I haven't seen it and it has great reviews. That said, I voted for the Last Samurai in the beginning just because personally I can't stomach OUTH, but it is my personal like, it does not mean that if chosen it wouldn't be fair. Democracy is important, freedom of option, options. That's why V for Vendetta even though it may be kinda dystopian, it is plentiful on the drama, more than thought provoking and certainly a statement for all those that had felt without option at least once in a lifetime. All that said, we all like different things or combination of things, and we can try to thrive in accommodating everyone's right of expression and option. I sometimes I'm happily surprised watching movies or series in this channel that I haven't considered before because the majority voted for x or y. It is good for R&T that they have so many loyal and passionate patreons pushing in different directions, we all get to learn new things from it.

MarySoul

I’ve seen the film, I’m well aware of it’s context and that it’s actually very good, I’ve already said that I’m sure R&T will enjoy it. But that doesn’t change the fact that it’s a futuristic dystopian SciFi film and doesn’t fit the genres requested for this month, and it’s displaced brilliant dramas that would have been better suited, and will never get another chance because the majority of this group is so Action and/or Sci/Fi obsessed. I enjoy action films. I enjoy Sci Fi films, but I also enjoy a wide variety of other genres, and this should have been a chance to give some of those films a chance. A little more diversity of films would help R&T grow the membership. But from now on I’ll make those I’ve offended happy, and give up on these pointless polls altogether.

Jan T

V for Vendetta is more of a drama and political thriller, the few action scenes are absolutely negligible. The film itself refers to Guy Fawkes, a historical figure, even if the story is modified or the story of the film itself is not historical and for some on this planet the situation is definitely not dystopian or science fiction but reality. The film has more important dialog and statements than many other films, hopefully encourages reflection on the statements and is a welcome change from the usual blockbusters...

Cindy Clarkson

I'm sure by the numbers v for vendetta is a good film, just not my kind of film

Kim Magee

I'm glad because apart from the impossible that would be the top film for me out of these, there's a few others that I like but I'm not excited about, But that's okay because I've always found Rob and Trinns pics provide some excitement

Kim Magee

It is a really good watch. It's not easy but it's a good watch I'm really hoping that it makes it or they pick it as one of their pics because it's been hanging around the polls for a long time and always just misses out

Kim Magee

Well it wasn't just a case of having a break from action. It was more selecting different genres and The last samurai does kind of fit because it is based around a true story which let's face it. Any movie is only going to be based around a true story. I don't really know anything about v for vendetta and to be honest I've seen the preview for it and I have no interest, I haven't watched the Zodiac but it does appeal and I know the impossible is an incredible film and it's based around a true story too

Kim Magee

Whiplash & zodiac have to win

KGkyle

Whiplash is a must..

Chris Reed

Rob & Trin I am begging you to pick Whiplash for a Thursday watch if it doesn't win the poll. Its such a good movie and you'd both really love it.

blorgins

Christine, I’m sure Rob and Trin will enjoy all the movies that win. I made a point of saying both Samurai and V were good movies. But R&T made a particular point that we’d already had a lot of action and SciFi movie’s recently, and were clearly wanting something different this month. Memoirs would have been really well suited to this. And there are more than a few members of this group who were looking forward to at least one month off from action/fighting movies. It’s just a shame the majority of this group can’t respect that.

Jan T

I cannot debate how predominant the movie is action- or drama-wise. That’s real subjective and a headache tbh. I understood the request to be “at least 1 of” so a majority of people can enjoy a bit of something from the movies that win. I like Zodiac (Fincher is one of my favorite directors and he does not make enough movies for me to gush over). My suggestion, Memoirs of a Geisha, did not even make it into the polls lol. But it is all good and fun as it should be with these polls and I would certainly not assume that “this group didn’t respect” R&T’s request. All good <3 I hope R&T get to watch all these great movies if not now then in the future.

Christine

Cindy, I’d appreciate it if you didn’t misquote me. I didn’t say it’s JUST an action film. I also said it’s a futuristic Dystopian SciFi movie, which is undeniably true. It’s a very good movie, but it really doesn’t fit with what was requested for this month.

Jan T

Anyone who sees V for Vendetta as just an action movie has definitely not understood the film…

Cindy Clarkson

Christine, Samurai is overwhelmingly an action movie. Just because it’s in a historical setting doesn’t change the fact that this month was requested to be a break from action movies.

Jan T

I don't get mad about it, but I do feel disappointment in the people who voted for films that don't fit with the month genre (V for Vendetta is an action Comic Book film)

Jack Mingle

Can't get any truer than V for Vendetta, based on real events. s/

Jack Mingle

Agreed, saw so many great requests, so many poor choices in the end...

Jack Mingle

But it says “at least 1 of the genres” not “all genres” so I think the top ones do meet that request. Also, voting is not over yet. The Impossible or Zodiac or both could still win. :)

Christine

Agreed. It certainly would have been more suitable for this month.

Jan T

whiplash is a good choice as well.

will Hancock

I realise I’m going to to get stomped on for saying this, but V for Vendetta is primarily a futuristic Dystopian SciFi action movie. The Last Samurai may have an historical setting, but it’s primarily an Action epic. They may be good movies , but it’s a real shame they are pushing out high quality films like The Impossible and Zodiac that actually fit All of Rob and Trin’s requested genres for this month, when we’re supposed to be having a break from Action and Sci Fi. It’s a pity so many in this group didn’t respect that request.

Jan T

Yeah, I'm a little Cruised out too. The man really is a great actor but I'm probably gonna skip this. That being said, I know how popular this film is and hope everyone really enjoys watching it with this community.

Gerald Colborn

I've experienced this as well, avoiding certain films or shows at certain times because of how they night I impact my mental health. This is a tough one but ultimately, it's a story of survival and triumph over almost incomprehensible odds. A great movie, but yes, terrifying in the scope of the cost of it's subject matter.

Gerald Colborn

Insane that Whiplash didn't make it

Miles

I did watch a mini documentary a few years ago and it didn't inspire the same horror I felt in 04. Back then, it got to me because I was watching endless sensationalized news coverage about it while struggling with depression. Bad combination! But now, I think I'll appreciate the movie because of the focus on the characters and their survival.

Ellen Noir

Noo, we gotta watch Tom Cruise LARP as a samurai before we get to see V for Vendetta :(

Tara L

I used to get mad about it, but it’s democracy heh haha. All good

Adam Belfort

Same. None of my votes made it.

Min

Personally, I think it's an excellent watch, but it is realistic (as much as possible) so it can be disconcerting if you feel a certain way about the theme at hand.

MarySoul

Pleaseee people i’ve been asking for whiplash for years!🙏

Tyler

V for vendetta, once years ago. I can't say I remember it much.

Bradley Weeks

which movie have you seen?

Ninaofthe90s

Wow, Tom Holland was just a baby. I totally forgot about this movie and never watched it when it came out because the event it's based on gave me actual nightmares but so much time has passed now. I keep hearing how well done this film is, so even if it doesn't win, I'll probably watch it on my own.

Ellen Noir

Looks like whiplash won’t win but that’s a tense movie. One of the few movies that actually gave me anxiety.

Phil Tilly

Hoping for American History X. Excellently executed film, and always relevant.

CheshireKat528

The Impossible is overdue... True story, heartbreaking & heartwarming all at once, with an "impossible" cute Tom Holland. Not that is relevant for the voting but cute story, I watched this movie the first time while I was pregnant and found TH's performance so touching, so sweetm, that it is 90% the reason we named our kid Lucas.

MarySoul

Same here. And it fits every genre Rob and Trin requested this month. But I’m afraid it will lose out to movies completely outside those genres sadly.

Jan T

Zodiac gets my vote. 🗳️

Jordan Tanner

The Impossible not making it in a true story month would be a crime, praying it goes through 🙏🏻

Len

Please, please, it has to be V this round! 😉 It‘s such an important movie especially in these times…

Cindy Clarkson

The Impossible is such an emotional Movie, i would really love to see it here

Fynn-Thorben Frey

True 🤦🏻‍♀️, changed my last vote to Whiplash, at least is within the parameters, have good reviews and I haven't seen it yet. Still hope the Impossible make it through.

MarySoul

Kings Speech would've been amazing, too

Salem

Hamilton too. I really thought it would make it. Too bad for the Kings Speech

kimburley

I've only seen one of these movies. All the ones I wanted were passed up. So I don't know what to vote for. So pick some good ones everyone.🙂

Bradley Weeks

Whiplash is such a classic 💪🏼💪🏼

Nicolas Garratt

Whiplash was third in votes in the first poll, come on people vote for it again 🥲

roncelune

Maybe man on fire too

Kim Magee

My top 4, the last samurai, the impossible, and zodiac or once upon a time in hollywood

Kim Magee

Les Mis would have been great, awesome film

Kim Magee

Hoping the impossible gets up such an incredible and true story and a very young Tom holland

Kim Magee

So sad the help or les miserable didn't make it, they had so much support this time in the comments that I was hopeful lol. Thanks everyone for voting for them!

Salem

Except we were supposed to be getting a break from Action movies this month. 😢

Jan T

Haven’t watch any of these, but this time I will try to enjoy it with you guys :) PS : We still have a lot of unfinished business 😂 (Jurassic World etc etc) Take care ❤️

Adam Belfort

Sounds like a personal problem, Rob and Trin didn’t make these choices they were voted on by the majority of their big fan base. Maybe stop being so disrespectful toward the people you spend your time reacting to, that work hard to provide us this content. Heidi

Reavezz

Go once upon a time go!!

JJ Jones

Heidi Elizabeth Marcum

💯 agreed. But I'm voting up Last Samurai because I just can't with once upon a time in Hollywood 🤭🫣🙈

MarySoul

Sorry the first poll was not set for multiple choice, they do not allow you to change it without reposting the whole thing 🙈 it is fixed now though!

Take a Ticket

I really hope The Impossible, and Zodiac make it through.🤞🏻 Pretty sad that A list movies like Silver Linings Playbook, and Spotlight missed out.
