Little Miss Sunshine (2006)

Paul Dano in absolutely one one our most underrated actors. As an actor who is not "Hollywood Handsome", not traditional leading man material, he gets to stretch so much more and show his versatility. I love to see any actor stretch, especially those that get typecast or otherwise fall into similar roles again and again, but actors like Dano, don't find that happening. Some even eventually find themselves as leading men or women. Take Dustin Hoffman as an example. He took a role intended for Warren Beatty and went on to do just about anything he likes. I recommend seeing him (Dano) in "There Will Be Blood", "Love and Mercy" and "Prisoners" to get an idea of what he's capable of. Similarly, Carrell shows us once again how amazing good comedians are in straight (?) roles. Like Robin Williams and Jim Carry, thoughtful comedians have insights into the human condition that just makes them so talented as actors. I recommend "Beautiful Boy" with Timothy Chalamet, "Last Flag Flying" with Brian Cranston and Laurence Fishburne or "Battle of the Sexes" with Emma Stone. Toni Collette and the rest of the cast all have similar bodies of work. All of them just a joy to watch in anything they do.

Oh no! The horn stuck triggered me, it happened to me last week!! Got me really anxious!!! 😩😅

Jenny Lee Villanueva

I know right?!! I loved how this family puts it to shame….shame!

I'm not sure if you recognized them all - but yes Toni Collette, my favorite actress, was also the mum in "The sixth sense" and also "Knives Out". You need to see her in "Hereditary". Abigail Breslin, the little girl Olive, also played Mel Gibson's daughter in "Signs" and the younger sister in "Zombieland". She's 28 now. And I'm not sure if you recognized Paul Dano, Dwayne also played The Riddler in "The Batman". Such an underrated versatile actor. Greg Kinnear is great in everything. Always love to see him. And Steve Carell is just as great in dramatic roles as in comedic ones. Also Rest in Peace to the wonderful Alan Arkin, Grandpa. ❤ He died two years ago.

Dad (Richard) is the best character. ❤

Ninaofthe90s

She was really good for such a young actress she reminded me a lot of my actual sister so she really felt like a believable child

James

And when they forget Olive at the gas station, and she was just right there waiting to jump in the VW😂. It is definitely a main character! 😂

Such a beautiful movie and always pleasant to rewatch. I always loved the fact that the Dj and Miss California (who also loves ice cream 😅) really enjoyed Olive's performance.

Everytime I watch this movie it reminds me of how much I hate kids pageants.

Kamanda Hickey

I love this movie so much and the silent relationship that Olive has with Dwayne is the sweetest thing. I am happy to know that I am not the only one who can't stop laughing at the horn 😅.

Kamanda Hickey

Thank you for reacting to one of my most favorite feel good movies (except for the cringe pageant shots). Love it!!!!!

Love this movie, love Olive, her sunshine and beautiful soul, saves all, still makes me cry every time. 💖☀️🎩 The movie in it's indie/intellectual way spotlights how bad the whole concept of pageantry for kids is. P.S.: And in absolute truth, those pageants are weird, creepy and proven to have done plenty of damage in lots of dark fronts. Sadly is more about the families that push the kids into this life, because it is expensive yet somewhat lucrative, terribly competitive, horrid mentally for the kids and well.. there are plenty of documentaries on the subject, from abuse to criminal situations... Even the observation you made Rob, about the guy in assistance, that would be bad if he doesn't have a kid participating... That it is just to "whatch".... It just happens, and they all know..... 🤢 Horrible, just awful stuff.

Her reaction had me almost crying it made it 10x funnier

I don’t know how I never heard of this movie holy shit it was actually hilarious and it hits close to home for me. The family dynamic felt so real and raw at times. Not at all what I was expecting but wow I want to rewatch it already. I really enjoyed Dwane and Franks relationship both of them carried the movie for me at least after the grandpa died I’m right there with Trin beauty pageants like that make me super uncomfortable I don’t know how the hell people think thats alright.

James

I love this entire family so much. ❤️ All the characters are so great. The screenplay and dialog is top tier.

Ninaofthe90s

God I love this movie. Brilliant cast. Everyone in that VW just has such a great body of work. And, yeah, those pageants are creepy. Super Freak was the perfect choice.

Gerald Colborn

Olive definitely should have won! She certainly was Little Miss Sunshine. ☀️ But those kiddy beauty pageants are truly creepy.

Jan T

Incredible ensemble cast here. And thank you for recognizing that the VW bus was one of the best characters in the film! My brother-in-law collects old VW’s, and the horns really sound like that at times. I already thought it was the funniest scene in the movie, but Trin’s reaction put it over the top for me. Great reaction!

MaggieS61

love this movie, grandpa is so fun

Vonnie Stewart

Oh, man. I want to watch this right now but it's past my bedtime and I'm fading fast.
