Sweeney Todd (2007)

I second that emotion. :-)

Anika

watched CryBaby as a 12 year old and loved it so much wish it was more well known

Victoria Davis

I only saw a cry baby about a year ago and I was surprised how much I liked it

Kim Magee

Probably I'm not sure exactly what you mean, but I'm sure sprinkling in one or two of them every so often would n't kill people, definitely. Based on real events, films would be good, we just watched deepwater Horizon again and it is such a good movie, same as lone survivor, cuz I'm starting to just sound like I love Mark Wahlberg LOL

Kim Magee

You are right, though I would classify school drop. Probably more comedy, and Bohemian rhapsody more a biopic but they are ones I mentioned and I'm glad that they did them because they are great films, But I am one that believes that if you don't ask, it don't happen

Kim Magee

It would just be nice to see something other than action horror sci-fi or comedy comedy doesn't get that big a go

Kim Magee

The thing is I'm using horror because I don't like horror movies, and I'm sure I'm not alone, but it will still get its own month and often when we have action. They'll be tomorrow in there or sci-fi will be some horror in there, musicals have managed to push their way in, but when we put up against action we have no hope

Kim Magee

They don't have DNA sequencing in Sweeney Todd's universe.

Farva

I think musicals already get a pretty fair go here. Rob & Trin have recently done The Greatest Showman, now Sweeney Todd. They’ve also done A Nightmare Before Christmas, The School of Rock, and Bohemian Rhapsody. It’s not like they’re ignoring musicals. There are plenty of other genres that never get a look in. I think musicals should continue to be sprinkled in, here and there, but not a whole month. There are other genres the should also get some attention.

Jan T

That would have been my first suggestion too. Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant. It’s got drama, comedy, and brilliant writing. I think most people would love it, if they gave it a chance.

Jan T

They have, at least, also watched School of Rock and Bohemian Rhapsody.

Octavia

I would love for them to watch Sense & Sensibility. Just to name one.

Wendy Sparks

Yeah they really can. I mean look at the two they have watched Sweeney Todd and the greatest showman complete opposites

Kim Magee

I agree musicals can be quite diverse.

Bradley Weeks

I love both of those movies so much

Kim Magee

Wicked was so good, I wasn't sure what I would think of it but it was so good

Kim Magee

And there are so many great but very different musicals like Elvis, enchanted, moulin rouge, hairspray, Les Miserables, Grease, The Rocky horror picture show, The Little Shop of horrors, Priscilla Queen of the desert, a Star is born, The Blues Brothers, West side story, school of Rock, rocket man, pitch perfect, dream girls, what's love got to do with It, mamma Mia, some like it hot, Bohemian rhapsody, Lyle Lyle crocodile, wicked there's so many and they're all so different and they're also good

Kim Magee

I get the arguement that some people don't like musicals, but some people don't like horror like me, And I'm sure I'm not alone And a whole month is only one a week. It just feels like we go from horror to sci fi, to comedy to action and back again, no musicals, but also no rom com, no drama, music biopics etc I know you guys try to mix it up but there's definitely a few genres that don't even get a look

Kim Magee

Best movie musical of the 21st century bar none!

Michael Celia

Some more variety would be very much appreciated! I enjoyed this, as I do most Tim Burton films, but I completely agree that a whole month of musicals would be too much. There are some wonderful period films based on classic novels that I’m sure would surprise you with how enjoyable they are.

Jan T

I would love to see more Musicals. Moulin Rouge or Les Miserables next please ❤️😂

Ninaofthe90s

Please sprinkle some more musicals in every now and then. I'm dying for a Hamilton reaction. And there is this little movie called Wicked. Not sure if you've heard anything about it . It's quite good.😁

Bradley Weeks

my absolute fave musical that everyone likes is Chicago! please watch

Vonnie Stewart

Jamie Campbell Bower is the same actor who plays Vecna in Stranger Things.

Leosunfire23

Not my favorite from Burton, but enjoyable rewatch with your commentary for sure. And I do support the variety you both try to provide with different choices every month, it would be tiresome for most of us and certainly for you if it was always superheroes, terror, zombies, death, apocalypse, drama... Sprinkling some comedy, action, musicals and popcorn thrillers here and there makes life spicier 😁 Thanks 🙏🏻

MarySoul

I really liked Cry-Baby. unfortunaley Johnny didn't sing himself in that one. But yes...he has been my celebrity crush since I was 12. 😂

Ninaofthe90s

🤣💜

Jenny Lee Villanueva

The first time I saw Johnny Depp was in a musical called CryBaby, from there he was my celebrity crush for the longest time hehe

Jenny Lee Villanueva

And he does it without yards of plastic sheeting...suck it Dexter! Sweeney Todd has never been one of my favorite shows but I kinda liked this adaptation. Sure, some things were changed and a bunch of songs were dropped, but the Tim Burton treatment totally works. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter are not great singers, though Sondheim musicals are notoriously difficult. BTW, the original Mrs. Lovett on Broadway was played by Angela Lansbury (Jessica Fletcher and Mrs. Potts herself).

Michael Celia

Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Jamie Campbell Bower, Alan Rickman, Timothy Spall. So many actors from Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts 😂

Ninaofthe90s

Wow! Half the harry potter cast is in this!

FedeM

Love this one. 💜 hopeful for more musicals

Jenny Lee Villanueva

Just think if Dexter opened a barber shop! 🤔 Loved the movie and the reaction!

Anthony Ancona

There are good and bad adaptations of musicals in the community. This is one of the good ones. If you get to Rent or Into the Woods I recommend the stage versions. Too much was changed with the movies. Into the Woods is one of my absolute favorite musicals. But even with the effects from it being a movie, with all the changes goes all the sass and everything that made it have the effect it's supposed to. Some things were changed or taken out with this movie too. But not too much. They understood the assignment. I agree. You should watch the stage version of this.

Anika

Me: *starts to worry if they'll notice Anthony is Vecna* Rob: He has the look of Vecna.... 🤣

Jessi

Driving home right now to watch this! So excited!

Shelby Tompkins

I dont usually watch musicals but i loved this movie
