I really love this universe, the lore and landscapes are super interesting it’s like game of thrones meets Star Wars, I’d like to see a Dune tv series as well I feel like that’d allow them to do more world building. I might even read the books after this.

2024-07-14 15:12:24 +0000 UTCMessiah is a much shorter book than Dune, so I doubt they will split it..Especially because last I heard Denis was only doing 3 Dune films (Part 1, 2, and Messiah) hopefully he'll change his mind and keep going though..Maybe he'll just take a break from Dune for a lil bit and do the rumored Rendezvous With Rama film..

2024-07-14 11:38:46 +0000 UTCYeah when we watched Dune (1) it was right after watching Arrival, and we thought the visuals were familiar to us, and at that time people confirmed to us that it was Also Villeneuve who did Arrival.

I also love writing and performance from Chalmette and Zendaya around his intense desire to not give into the destiny that he saw coming for him. While in large part it was his desire to not embroil the Fremen in an insane war across the stars in his name, it was also because he saw that if he gave in, there was no way to do it without losing himself. Which means that that line from Chani about how he will never lose her if he stays who he is, is automatically foiled. Don't go south and embrace his destiny; he will die and so will everyone he loves. Go south and he ceases being Usul and become the Lisan Al Gaib which means he will likely lose Chani. All the changes they did make sense to me for the story they were telling. I miss some events and minor characters but they really would have been hard to fit into this coherently. Some of the abandoned characters/storylines are rather important to events in book 3 (Dune Messiah, already in pre-production from what I understand), it will be very interesting to see who those threads of story are moved to in Dune Part 3. In the book Paul is 100% devoted to Chani and she knows that he is going to have to take Irulan as his bride, but there is no relationship there. I think that is still the case but the way that Chani leaves in this makes me think he is going to have to win her back a bit. Dune Messiah, will likely need to be 2parts as well but I could also see a goods sized time jump and some economical story telling that could do it in one big-ass movie.
