FIRST TIME WATCHING: Glass Onion A Knives Out Mystery (2022)

Miles may escape prosecution for Andi's death, but he is ruined both in name and financially. His Klear product destroyed the Mona Lisa which was in his care. He "illegally" installed the override for the protection system. The Mona Lisa as one of them said is owned by the state (France). You can bet they will prosecute and take him for everything. It may also be considered a criminal act as well. (Not sure of France's laws) I loved this movie. I still think the first one is better. It had better pacing and it just all fit together better. This one gave us more of Benoit Blanc's quirkiness which I love. I hope they keep this character going. The guy that played the stoner Derol was the same guy that played Trooper Wagner (the cop who loved mysteries) in the first one.

A million seconds is about 12 days. A billion seconds is 31 years. A trillion seconds is 31,000 years

Schmaster

As far as we know this is the first time our family has had covid. We avoided it for 4 or 5 years somehow

I would love to see a world where everybody would understand they have value and worth, that they make up this weird and wonderful canvas. That is life

It's really good that you can talk openly and yeah I totally understand the social side of things. Faith has been house bound since 2020, sadly, she even struggles to speak for herself when she's talking to her therapists, One of her exposure therapy tasks was to send a meme to a very good friend from school, she couldn't do it and we ended up going and sending her twin sister and meme, but we set goals and we are working on her doing things like ordering a pizza on the phone, joining online games that have chat options, I'm a huge chatterbox and once upon a Time she was the same

I'm sorry to hear that you have gotten ill πŸ˜“ I've seen you mention before, and I'm on spectrum too. Group settings are a struggle for me too and I actively have to disengage and remove myself when overwhelmed. Thankful that R&T provide this space where I can be involved "socially" even when we don't always see eye to eye. I hope you feel better soon.

But this same 16-year-old girl has to explain to her psychologist about disorders that she has considered could be what's going on with her same with her occupational therapist. They have to Google what faith is talking about. Quite often me too

I do know that his IQ is considered to be moderately gifted. I think his IQ was supposed to be around 150 something and that is quite common with autism to have a higher IQ. Maybe not that high but still common to have a higher IQ. I must admit I probably am biased because I have three kids with autism and one of them definitely has a high IQ and as always looked at herself as being dumb because she struggles to learn in a group environment

Kim Magee

It is interesting to look at the conversation in the main room after dinner, just before Duke calls Andi a loser. We learn later that Andi is Helen, so when she says that no one understood what it's like to have their life taken away she really means in the sense of being murdered. Note also that when Miles gives his speech about "disruption" he literally is describing Helen's actions in the final scene, breaking things and having everyone cheer her on and even participate -- until she goes after Liberace's piano and they're worried she's now going too far -- and she continues destroying things until she burns the Mona Lisa, symbolically destroying the System itself.

You are right, that info was old when they were reinvesting in growth, normally I try to be accurate, but got covid ATM lol

A comment above had been deleted, and I don't know the content of the post, but Kim's reply tells me enough. I usually agree with Kim from the posts I've seen, but the statement is false on a number of points. The idea that a multi-billionaire doesn't care about profits is absurd. The amount of exploitation and wealth hoarding necessary to become a billionaire is gross and significant. Not only did Tesla make a record breaking NET profit of $1.6 Billion in 2021 and $3.3 Billion in 2022. Also, the state of New York spent $750 Million to build the Tesla factory there, and exempted him from paying property tax for a decade! That is on top of the $5 Billion he received from the US government for grants and tax breaks. Humans have a hard time visualizing/estimating how much a billion of something is, so have a hard time realizing the difference between millionaires and billionaires. It is also an almost uniquely American perspective to equate someone's intelligence to the amount of money they've hoarded, especially when Elon didn't invent a single thing, as it was the scientists who do the R&D and engineering, not Musk.

Intriguing setup to start with, but I thought the resolution was a bit disappointing. I’m still glad to have seen this one. πŸ™‚

The twin is Janelle MonΓ‘e , who is also a known singer

Hopefully we get to see their reaction to Clue πŸ’œ

I love this movie. After seeing it a few times, I've decided that I enjoy this one better than the first one. This cast, like the first film, is nothing less than stellar.

William

First time I watched a guessed what was going to happen but then thought it can’t be that obvious lol

Victoria Davis

This was fun and quirky. The first Knives Out movie was definitely better but watching Glass Onion actually makes me look forward to more Benoit Blanc murder mystery movies.

Christine

I was honestly expecting the twist being that Andi doesn't have a sister - she was just posing as Helen to get Blanc to the island and then pretend to be her sister pretending to be her. I knew I was over-thinking it because I never guess twists. This movie has the most random cameos: Serena Williams of course, but also Angela Lansbury, Stephen Sonheim and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on Blanc's zoom call...and Yo-Yo Ma identified the piece of music in the invite box at Birdie's party.

Michael Celia

Aww, you guys didnt recognize Milton from TWD season 3 at the start :c

PhoenixReturns

Useless Conmen like musk? Hmmm you do realise he has given free batteries to power a city that had no power, gave use of his satellites to people that had been denied access by dictators, his Tesla cars are so cheap because he wants us to go to electric and doesn't make profit. He is trying to explore space and places our governments aren't bothering with. I would say he is anything but what you describe him as, yes he's eccentric. He's got autism, big brains and money of course he's eccentric

Kim Magee

I really like that this is a Benoit Blanc franchise like Piriot. Glass Onion was an example of something I like in mysteries where they back track showing what was really going on (Benoit's and Helen's story).

Yay! I have been looking forward to this movie! Great fun!
