jkr wrote the books that made any of this possible, she wanted to try having more involvement with the writing, which she was free to do, all of her books were amazing and well written so why wouldnt her script, and it wasnt that bad, but anything compared to harry potter would seem lame

2024-10-05 09:11:51 +0000 UTCThink one of the biggest kneecaps to these movies aside from the story not being that compelling was letting JKR write them, the quality went down each time and she cant write screenplays at ALL and was given too much freedom. Once you start down the prequel path it's hard not to just start shoving references and cameos even when they don't fit and break canon, at the expense of a good story. Also creating stakes or character danger for ones we know later. The plan for 5 movies was just fundamentally misguided from inception and they should have narrowed scope to a solid trilogy that felt well thought out and guided, at least then there could have been pay off instead of a never to be finished disappointment. Ah well. On to the tv show reboot on MAX that will last a decade.
