FIRST TIME WATCHING Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) Reaction!

Comments

its less confusing watching them in release order than in chrono

PhoenixReturns

they said release order, which is just as fine tbh

xRivalize

This is the first one to watch in chronological order. I know you said you don't want a list, but you really need one so you don't miss them. You already missed Captain Marvel that comes before Avengers. And comes just after Captain America. Or be fine with confusion on who people are later. lol

Sean Murphy

The Bowler Hat Soldier was played by Neal McDonough who is probably most known from Band Of Brothers, but he's had small bits in lots of stuff..

Superpotroast

They made a good decision to steer clear of the early comic books focus on 'Yay America!' patriotism, and instead focus more on the universally relatable concept of 'I don't want to kill anyone. I just don't like bullies.' Nothing wrong with the patriotism angle, but the movie had to appeal to a more global market. They did good.

Captain America is just above human maximums for strength - 1 Ton catagory. Hulk is way up with Thor in the 100+ Ton catagory. Very big difference.

My best friends are about 5 years older than me and that time gap they have on me put them growing up in the golden age of Marval comics.. I was born in 1970, and Saturday morning cartoons were becoming more popular than comics and Japanese Anime was becoming popular too. The only Superheroes that were popular were DCU I watch Superfriends back then. The '80s and early '90s featured mainly Super Man and Batman Spider-Man with Toby Mcguire were coming out and I saw those, but when Hulk and Ironman came out but I was about to start Nursing and Radiology school so I never got into the MCU movies. I am so glad you are watching them now. To be honest I feel like I am watching these movies with close friends and with your banter I feel that I catch some of the subtleties that I might miss otherwise. I am glad to be on this journey of fun, adventure, and expanding my knowledge and love for popular culture! On to The Avengers and beyond!

Great review My first watch of this movie Same attitude I definitely thought I wouldn't like it so I never really wanted to watched it after the Hulk and it's poor SE And as far as the protagonist, my first thought when he revealed his true appearance was "SMMOKIN'!"

MCU is tv-series but with movies. Everything has meaning. You should remember vibranium too.

Count Monte-Cristo

I hadn't watched this in a long time, man, what a delight this movie is. I remember being really surprised by it in theaters for the same reasons you all cited: I had low expectations of a generic 'universally good' hero, like a Superman type of character, as well as showcasing a bunch of overly-patriotic stuff (eech)- but the characterization of Steve with so much heart and courage as well as Evan's performance really got me to buy-in, and he goes on to perhaps be my favorite character in the entire MCU. Looking forward to more from you both, as always!

Ryan Skinner

That blue serum is what they gave to Emil Blonsky, Abomination in Incredible Hulk. Hulk project is continuation of super-solider project really.

Count Monte-Cristo

I can´t wait for next Sunday! Avengers is one of my favorite movies!

Bassorelli Chiara

Felt the same about the red skull dude, and yes as we meet others it fits unlike this one, I cant wait for guardians and antman

The Captain America series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe improved so much with the next movies. For me, this origin movie is the weakest of the Captain America movies. It's the reverse with the Ironman movies sadly. All enjoyable to watch still (just because Tony Stark is such a great character), but the CA movies just became more and more meaningful as it moves forward. Cannot wait for the Avengers though!

Christine

The next Captain America movie is probably my favorite movie in the MCU but I don’t think there’s a bad movie in the bunch.
