Word of warning, I've been hit by this on patreon plenty of times re: disappearing posts, tho mainly on other creators in the past before I learnt to stop doing it. If you write something long, and make numerous edits to it after posting (which I commonly used to do with reactions as I'd collect all my thoughts thru an ep) patreon has a habit of spam deleting it. It's annoying as hell.

As far as Locke knowing where the smoke monster was. He and Ben have a small talk about it.
BEN: May I ask you a question, John?
LOCKE: Shoot.
BEN: How is it that you know where you're going?
LOCKE: I just know.
This reminds me of when Locke has the dream of Horus, when they're looking for the cabin. After Locke wakes up, Ben says, "I used to have dreams, too."
It seems like things just come to Locke sometimes.
You're absolutely right though, Rob, Locke is way more confident than he used to be. And here's my thought on that. How confident was Locke when the island healed his back and let him walk again? How confident would he be after the island brings him back to life?

My comment somehow disappeared, so posting it again.
I was just able to catch up with both of the lost reactions this week. Great stuff. Glad you were able to pick up on the depth and multilayered nature of a lot of the conversations. I have a lot to say about Jack’s motivations in the previous episode, but I will do that later when I have time. Some other thoughts:
In the previous reaction, you discussed the conflict between trying to figure stuff out and going with the show's flow. I think you maintain a nice balance. I will only say that those who say that Lost is primarily a mystery show are missing the point. At its core, it is a character-driven drama that unfolds as a mystery show, has sci-fi elements and religious/spiritual themes, and makes heavy use of non-linear storytelling.
Also, I just want to point out that Locke knowing things he shouldn’t know isn’t completely unprecedented. The thing is that a lot of the time, we know how he knows. For instance, he knew about Eko’s brother’s plane because we know he saw it crash in a dream. Or he knew he could find directions to the cabin at the Dharma mass grave because we know he saw Horace in a dream.
But sometimes, he could feel the right thing to do. He and Boone were trying to track Ethan, who had kidnapped Claire and Charlie, but his trail had gone cold. But Locke kept moving forward because he felt something. This caused them to find the hatch.
BOONE: Are we lost?
LOCKE: No, Boone, we’re not lost.
BOONE: Sorry, it’s just... I don’t see how you can still be following this trail. I think we should go back.
LOCKE: Don’t you feel it?
BOONE: Feel what?
LOCKE: It.
Same with him intuiting that some particular markings on Eko’s stick should be interpreted as compass bearings. This led them to Mikhail and the communications hatch. Similarly, as Wendy said, he has also seemed self-assured and purposeful before. Though perhaps he has moved up a gear now.
As far as we can tell for sure, death has maybe enhanced his superpowers/temperament, not given him completely new ones.
