I get where he's coming from about being upset that, unlike Nancy, he couldn't afford to lose his job. But... here's where he's not getting the point... He was not being diminished at the job because of who he is. Even as an intern, Jonathan was getting to do his dream work... take photos and work in the dark room. Meanwhile Nancy was getting lunches and constantly demeaned. Men, especially then, don't realize how hard sexism is to overcome... because at the end of the day, regardless of Jonathan's home life, he's considered one of the guys, and given opportunities at work that Nancy was not.
