love this TV series, super nice, thank you

Yeah I was given all the info before I started thankfully haha, would of been quite jarring to hop into season 1 strait away 🙈

This was the first ever BSG episode I watched, completely unaware as I was that the miniseries existed. I realised as soon as the ‘previously on…’ started that I was missing some back story, but this episode blew me away so completely that I ready didn’t mind. The tension in this one makes it one of my all-time favourites. And don’t worry Rob, I get emotional watching it too. I did eventually track down the mini-series, but I think it wasn’t until after I’d seen season 2, so it didn’t help all that much.

Laura Dawson

yeah i get weirdly anxious about it - ended up making a video guide to avoiding them am that anal about it lol. He'd have probably figured it out himself after a couple of episodes, but the fact that ep 1 spoils fact that Helo is alive before its revealed in the episode bothers me too much lol.

2:30 - oh, thank the gods! Someone told you about those stupid spoiler flashes.

Scarlett Monrow

When Trin is unavailable like this... Rob should just animate her avatar with changing expressions, so she's with us in spirit. Actually that would be cool for her anyway... surprised, crying, 'can't feel my legs', and heart eyes (aka Hopper eyes). Someone make that happen. ;-D

I just find the opening of the season after a certain webisode series to be super powerful in how it reveals the status quo after the last season end, and that the webisodes kinda dilute that with slightly lower budget optional story nuggets that take the wind out of main season reveals if that makes sense... feel that kinda stuff is best consumed after finishing but maybe that's just me.

As for the watch order, there are mostly just two different opinions. I'm not saying which one is better, just want to present it, but please feel free to disagree with me y'all or correct me. (I, personally, watched it in the order it was released). I think the names of the webisodes are not spoilery, especially since I think he said he had them, that's why he's asking about the order, no? But I agree that they don't give that much to the story, but they're still a part of it, so I would watch them, but that's just me. First option: the release order The Miniseries Season One Season Two (S02E10, 56 minute extended version) The Resistance Webisodes (10 episodes, 25 minutes in total) Season Three (S03E09, 70 minute extended version) Razor (tv movie, 101 minute extended version. Razor Flashbacks: these were incorporated into the extended Razor movie, except parts 1,2 and 7 of the webisodes, but meh, idt it's worth the hassle tracking them down) Season Four (until the midseason finale S04E11) The Face of the Enemy Webisodes (10 episodes, 36 minutes in total) Season Four, continued (starting with S04E12, 53 minute extended version, there are two more extended episodes: S04E18, 62 minute extended version and the three parter series finale S04E19-21, 150 minute extended version in total) The Plan (tv movie) Caprica series BSG: Blood and Chrome (tv movie) Second opption: the chronological order (it contains "slight" spoilers, but for example Razor fits in season 2, so if you wait until after season 3 to watch, people argue you'll loose interest in that particular storyline) The Miniseries Season One Season Two (S02E10, 56 minute extended version) ending with S02E17 Razor (tv movie, 101 minute extended version) Season Two, continuing with S02E18 until the end of the season The Resistance Webisodes (10 episodes, 25 minutes in total) Season Three (S03E09, 70 minute extended version) Season Four (until the midseason finale S04E11) The Face of the Enemy Webisodes (10 episodes, 36 minutes in total) Season Four, continuing until S04E15 (starting with S04E12, 53 minute extended version) The Plan (tv movie) Season Four, continuing until the end of the season with two more extended episodes: S04E18, 62 minute extended version and the three parter series finale S04E19-21, 150 minute extended version in total Caprica series BSG: Blood and Chrome (tv movie, well it was supposed to be a show, but didn't happen. It's following young Adama during the first Cylon war, it's considered a sequel to Caprica and a prequel to BSG, so you can watch it after Season Four too I guess)

James Callis is such an amazing actor and his comedic timing is just beyond, and we need it, the show needs Gaius. Tricia is just as amazing as six and tbh the whole cast is awesome. About the shaky camera style filming, Moore said that he wanted to shoot the show as kind of like a documentary style show, that was one of the first decision he made, he wanted us to feel like we were there too. He (and the writers) also wanted to put people on the Olympic Carrier when Apollo flies by it, banging on windows and stuff, but the suits thought it would be too much and too dark, so they left it a bit ambiguous, like you can see shadows on the ship. Leave Trin's avatar on the screen pls, I miss her, but at least she's still here in a way XD

Re: Watch Order: There are webisodes thrown in between, but personally I'm not sure if people would disagree but I think the webisodes potentially tread on the drama of the end of one season and the start of the next with what really amounts to promotional material to keep people invested between seasons rather than crucial parts of the story, I'd personally say to skip these and I don't really want to name them and where they fit in case they imply stuff about the story in advance. There are a couple of TV movies that are definitely worth watching but are not necessary for enjoyment of the show story. Watch order: S1-S3 Razor - TV Movie S4 The Plan - TV Movie Caprica (spin-off series, set before the fall, cancelled after 1 season and started slow but some interesting lore fitting into the world. I'd personally be down to see it but I suspect it wouldn't be as popular as BSG) Blood & Chrome - TV movie - attempt at an Adama in first cylon war prequel that was never picked up for a series, not sure I'd bother with this one but others may differ in opinion on this.

This episode makes me tired just watching it (not in a bored way haha), the way they portray the absolute exhaustion of the crew is so well handled. They are all just hanging on by a thread, I dunno how they manage to keep going. Such a well acted, well written amazing show. Gaius is so needed otherwise it would just be too bleak at least he brings some levity!

Michael

Yeah the montage of the episode to come is such a baffling decision, I always closed my eyes when watching it

Michael

Interesting Ob. Baltar has now made 2 HUGE claims about Cylons. He identified the "spy" (the media/tour guide dude) and now he stated the Olympic Carrier was being tracked by the Cylons. Baltar is CORRECT both times. Funny thing is, ask yourself did he really know he was right, was it a guess, or, was it nothing more that self interest. OR something else.

Prof Moff

oh I thought I should be clear, I love most of the changes. I just meant of ALL the changes I wish they had left out the preview at the beginning, I have ALWAYS hated that in all shows. Luckily, My favorite and best written show ever does not so that, Black Sails leaves the surprises as surprises not as previews.

Prof Moff

Fact about the start. I hate it as well, it does show clip blast of the show. Why? Well the fact is the original show did that as well. Again one of the things I HATED about the original show. Of all the things NOT to change, god I wished they had changed that

Prof Moff

It has been so long since I watched this show, that I did not realize that the 33 minutes episode was the first one. That is a solid start.

Rune

I did, wtf man lol
