Chapter 71: A Chill to the Bone
Added 2024-05-04 09:50:30 +0000 UTC"Oh, strange creature, do you wish for your planet to disappear from the universe?"
Lord Beerus's face darkened instantly, his expression growing stern and his cold, golden eyes devoid of emotion, his words sending a shiver of terror through Xavier.
Oh, my dear miss, can't you stop causing trouble?
Xavier felt dizzy, his hair standing on end, knowing full well the terror of a God of Destruction. He really wanted to smack Merus down right there.
For a God of Destruction, annihilating a planet was as simple as flicking a finger, and Xavier wouldn't even have time to use Instant Transmission to save Celine and the others!
Xavier quickly covered Merus's mouth, holding it shut despite her struggles, and repeatedly apologized to Beerus:
"Lord Beerus, please don't take the words of a child to heart!"
Beerus's gaze was icy as he stared with his golden eyes, his divine presence causing the temperature around to plummet.
"Young man, since you know my name, you should also be aware of how a God of Destruction behaves. Insulting a deity is not something that can be forgiven. You and this planet might as well disappear from the universe together!"
As he spoke, a flicker of light appeared on his finger, and a small purple energy sphere formed, surrounded by several rings of sparkling light swirling around it.
This was a super energy sphere capable of destroying the entire Planet Vegeta in one go!
Seeing the small purple energy sphere on the God of Destruction's finger, Xavier’s pupils constricted. Beerus had actually begun to invoke "destruction" — he was truly intending to obliterate Planet Vegeta!
Xavier's mind raced, desperately thinking of ways to persuade Beerus to spare their planet.
Suddenly, a spark of inspiration struck him; he remembered that Beerus was particularly fond of tasting exquisite cuisine. Perhaps improving his mood could save Planet Vegeta.
Indeed, Beerus's whimsical and illogical nature might be their only hope. Forgetting to conceal his power, Xavier quickly opened his dimensional space, retrieving stacks of steaming, delicious food that he had brought from Earth.
"Lord Beerus, these are some delicacies from my collection; I hope you will enjoy them!"
"Hmm? Psychic powers?"
Beerus recognized Xavier's method instantly. Having lived countless years, Beerus had seen many capable of using psychic powers; Xavier's abilities did little to impress him.
However, the aroma wafting from the hot dishes gradually warmed his expression.
"They look quite tasty!"
Dispelling the energy sphere in his hand, Beerus, intrigued, pointed at the food, the tempting aroma greatly enhancing his appetite.
Stuffing a plate of food into his mouth, the delightful flavors tantalized his taste buds. Beerus showed a look of surprise, swiftly shoveling several plates of the delicious food into his mouth, all the while puffing out hot breaths.
"Ha ha, so delicious! This time, Whis is missing out on these tasty treats..."
In no time at all, Beerus devoured several plates of food, patting his stomach contentedly. He then gave Xavier an approving glance and asked, "Kid, what's your name?"
"Lord Beerus, my name is Xavier!"
Beerus nodded, "This time, I'll spare this planet for your sake and these delicacies. Be grateful, for the mercy of a God of Destruction is rare."
"Thank you, Lord Beerus!"
Xavier was visibly relieved, respectfully watching as Beerus departed.
Only after Beerus disappeared from sight did Xavier breathe a sigh of relief, feeling the sweat on his back. This was his first encounter with a deity of such stature, and the pressure was immense—he was genuinely afraid of being annihilated on a whim.
Looking around, he noticed that the passersby acted as if they hadn't witnessed the events unfold.
Had the God of Destruction blocked everyone's senses? Xavier shuddered, gaining a deeper understanding of the terrifying power of a God of Destruction.
"Hey, who was that guy, anyway? You seemed really scared of him," Merus asked, bringing him back to reality. Glaring at the one who had almost caused the destruction of Planet Vegeta, Xavier's frustration boiled over, and he dragged Merus into an alley.
"What are you trying to do, get us killed?" Merus yelled indignantly, her candy apple dropping to the ground due to Xavier's rough handling.
"Do you have any idea what your words nearly cost us? The entire Planet Vegeta could have been destroyed because of you!"
Xavier didn't care much for the fate of Planet Vegeta itself, but the thought of Celine and the others dying was chilling.
A child with no manners needs a lesson!
Without another word, he flipped Merus over, her back across his lap, grabbed her tail with one hand, and with the other, he started spanking her.
"Smack..."
Merus was stunned; she had never been spanked before!
She struggled in Xavier's grasp, but her minimal power level was no match for him. After several more spanks, he finally let her down.
"You... you actually hit me..." The little girl clutched her behind, tears welling up in her eyes as she began to sob uncontrollably.
Merus, considered a prodigious elite warrior, found herself inconsolable, the humiliation of being unable to resist the spanking overwhelming her, causing her tears to flow even more freely.
What kind of person was this nephew of Master Adriel? He was just a middle-tier warrior, only seven years older than her, yet her power had no effect against him whatsoever.
As her tears subsided a bit, Merus began to realize something. Adriel's nephew was no ordinary Saiyan. How could a regular middle-tier warrior immobilize her like this, especially when her power level was nearing 850?
Watching Merus cry her heart out, Xavier began to second-guess if he had been too harsh, considering she was not even five years old.
But then he remembered how her careless words had nearly led to the death of Celine and others, which steeled his resolve again. Merus was too arrogant; it was necessary for her to face some hardships.
Finally, Merus's crying began to subside.
"Alright, Merus, stop crying. You need to understand, the person you provoked is none other than Lord Beerus, the God of Destruction. He is one of the most terrifying deities in the entire universe. Just a flick of his finger could erase Planet Vegeta from existence. You might be the first person to have angered a God of Destruction and still live to tell the tale."
"God of Destruction... Beerus?"
Merus looked up with tear-stained eyes, confusion written across her face.
"Basically, he's a being that Saiyans, or anyone in the universe for that matter, cannot afford to provoke," Xavier explained seriously, still taken aback by the fact that Beerus had appeared on Planet Vegeta.
