Yes thank you for joining me on my SU journey! While this was wrapped up a couple months ago, I’m still editing it for YouTube so I’m still technically re/experiencing the show with comments like yours and others! I’m glad I didn’t watch it back then because I felt I offered a new perspective of not really being aware of the hate or the controversy around it. I had always heard it got worse after S2 or 3 but watching this I pretty much felt the opposite. And THEN future blew me away and recontextualized the entirety of the series. In a psychological person so it spoke to me on a human and personal level and I felt the creators really nailed it in that regard. I really do feel it was ahead of its time and trying to do things and show representation of things we don’t necessarily see on not only cartoons but TV. Whether or not it was trying to be woke, as you pointed out, I feel it was just people not ready for it or being too early for others. And no problem! It was a blast to have your insight and love for the series. I appreciate your time and support 💎🎩

The older I get, the more I realize how special this show was and how I took it for granted no matter how much I loved it at the time. It is seriously my favorite show of the 21st Century and there’s been some grade A television. I think SU has ruined newer shows and even modern novels for me. The show wasn’t perfect but the imperfections just added to the authenticity, and it was bound to happen when Rebecca Sugar and the other members of the Crewniverse had such grand ambitions in telling the stories they personally felt strongly about. The heart and soul of the creatives really comes through. Your reaction really understood everything that this show was portraying. You’re also absolutely right about a lot of the more negative attitudes towards the show was a reflection of how it was pushing boundaries and was focused on storyboarder-oriented storytelling that was more about expanding into themes rather than creating a narrowly-focused, tight plot. It broke a lot of formulas and rules, and you know how some are when something challenges the norm. Also, the “woke” representation and politics caused some hate towards the show from both the more traditional folks for being too different and the more radical folks who felt it was too traditional in many ways when it should have been more challenging… funny enough, both extreme ends meet in the middle on a lot of things. Thank you again.
