Weekly Progress Update [29/MAY]

Hi everyone, it's been a while since the last progress update!! Hope you've all been well!

As a reminder, if you're a new patron and you pledged in the past week, since June is literally right around the corner, you'll be charged again on the 1st! Let me know if you'd like a refund for May so you're not unfairly double charged!!

I'm happy to say that I did manage another 4k words since I last updated you, but that was 2 weeks ago as my thesis has taken priority for the remainder of May and probably will for the beginning of June as well. I'm in the final stages of data analysis and rounding up my conclusion, so AToC's progress has slowed a bit.

My goal for May was 15k words and I came up a bit short of that at 12k words; the total wordcount for the draft is currently 23k words! My (updated) wordcount for the chapter is 45k, so we're halfway through the draft! 

That's still a very positive sign of forward movement, though my estimates for when the chapter will be released will probably take a bit of a delay. I think we're realistically looking at a July release if I can keep this kind of steady pace up. It's not as fast as I'd like it to be, but I unfortunately do have to prioritize.

As for content: 

I've been working on expanding the opening scene and adding more meaningful variations between the two major branches! Also a bit of more personal flavor text; things like your Crown's state of mind, how they're feeling based on certain choices you've made in the past. X and D are especially highlighted in this section as you try to handle the Attack, and I've had a lot of fun with their interactions ✨

I've also started chipping away at the middle section of the chapter, which has been a delightful writing exercise in court intrigue, slimy politicians, hints at hidden motives, as well as consequences to the Crown's reputation based on the decisions they've made so far. R and A come more into play here, and it's always great to watch them team up on the nobles lol

There's also an in-between check in where the whole gang comes together again with the Crown for a moment to process the events of the coronation, as well as a check in with each other, and to plan out your next moves 👀

Basically, half of CH9 is set-up for the rest of Act I, officially named The Mountains, but unofficially I call it We're In The Shit Now!!! lmao 

It's plotted to last till around ~CH14, but it can end up being longer or shorter than that depending on how things pan out chapter by chapter. The other half of CH9 is a few chickens coming home to roost 😘
