Weekly Progress Update [08/MAY]

This progress report will be a short one for this week. I've started working on the middle part of CH9 with all the Juicy Politics that's part of it, though I've also been refining and editing the opening scene a bit to tighten it up for later.
Those of you who read the Dev Sneak Peek from this week got some insight about the structure of the Crown's Imperial Court: it'll come into big play in CH9 and all the other chapters moving forward. The Imperial Court will be a very important mainstay in the story, as both the symbol and the centralization of the Crown's power. Think carefully about who you want to allow into your court 👀
Moving on to more practical matters: my current wordcount for CH9 has increased with +4k to a total of 15k words! So we're well on track to reaching the wordcount goal for May, thankfully.
I also had a great epiphany this weekend about how the CH5 choices in particular will play a role this chapter with wildly diverging outcomes related to that and the attack in CH8/9. Which means more variation writing for me, unfortunately, but it'll be worth it in the end!!! 😭
Aside from that, I thought it would be fun to drop a preview of the opening scene for y'all while you're sticking with me on these progress updates:
