Weekly Progress Update [10/APR]

Hey everyone, hope you could end the week on a good note!

This is my first progress update on my Patreon and I'm super excited about it, though most of it will be related to planning and coding. Nothing particularly thrilling or juicy yet I'm afraid!

As those of you who have seen my Development Sneak Peak earlier in the week may have already seen, this week I've been busy with planning the structure of Chapter 9 and sorting out the coding for the big opening scene! Chapter 8 ended on quite the cliffhanger, after all.

Some things I've planned out for the opening scene so far:

• Big branching routes depending on previous plot choices made, with 6 major variants and outcomes
• These 6 variants are then impacted by personality variables, the love interest route, and friendship stats with other characters
• Finally, the Crown's choices on how to handle the outcome of the opening scene will also have varying effects on the relationships they have and on their reputation as a ruler

Other things I'm planning for Chapter 9 are very much related to having the Crown actually sit down and get a routine going for their daily duties, becoming acquainted with the day-to-day living as a Crown, and their responsibilities.

There will also be further plot developments in Chapter 9 building off of the goals set by the Crown in the previous chapter, so there's that to look forward to 👀

I have deadlines for college coming up on Monday and Tuesday, but after that has been handled I'm hoping to actually get a word count going. My tentative word count goal for the rest of April will be ~7k words; I'm aiming for a summer release for Chapter 9, and hopefully getting a solid start on it in this month will help with that.
