The Modded Run (Working Title)
Added 2025-11-03 08:20:02 +0000 UTCAlright, folks! Even if only around a third of you voted, I had to close down the November/December game poll so that I could actually get started on it! That said, despite the low vote turnout, one game won by a landslide with those of you who did vote. 'Modded' was very much a test title, even 'The Modded Run' is only a working title for the moment, but either way it was the 'Modded' game idea that won. Which, as I suspect most people realized, is a bit of a parody of a heavily modded Skyrim Playthrough.
No, I'm not actually using Skyrim for this. That was a terrible idea with Chastity Quest and I have so, so many regrets about the hell I went through with that game. It's just the general parody theme.
Instead, I'm using Daz3D for this one again, most likely along with Twine (the browser-based engine I used for Haven's Port and Dungeon of Lewdity). It's been two years since I touched Twine, but I remember it being fairly easy for a game like this one. I'll need to refresh my memory on it. The last time I touched it was, in fact, for The Morning After back in December 2023. Which this game is somewhat modeled after.
So far, most of what I've gotten done is some basic story/plot/concept outlining...and the creation of the Main Character. At least her 'in game' character that will be seen for the vast majority of the game. Let's take a look at her, hmm?

I did my best to channel by inner perverted modder energy for her. Since this is a person landing inside her 'modded' character, I went with a fairly airbrushed/perfect look, with the exact sort of unrealistic proportions you might see with those sorts of mods. I'm pretty solidly happy with her. The only thing I might tweak is possibly lightening up the red in her hair. Otherwise, I think she'll do nicely. These, of course, are just test renders I used to work out the character. Though that second outfit worked out well enough we might just see it in game...

Remember, this isn't really my 'new game.' This is a quickie game that I'm going to build ONLY in November/December while I work on doing the Sound stuff for Left Hand Magic. Twine is a LOT easier to work with, and honestly a better engine for the type of game in question. Renpy it horribly overkill for an escape type game. Also a generally terrible fit for anything but visual novels, if we're honest. Renpy's really only good at the one thing, since that's all it was made for.

I do not expect you to change your plan for me, but RenPy is by far the most popular game engine for so many reasons, I cannot count them all. Most people only want play RenPy games now. I am not sure I even want to deal with Twine. I have gotten way too spoiled. I have no doubt at all, that you will do an excellent job making this game. Your new character proves that already. I do not think you could make a truly bad game anyway (although I was never even able to get Chastity Quest running at all). Left hand magic uses RenPy 7.5.3. The newest version of RenPy (8.4.1) has far more capability and some fantastic features. You may not be interested at all in any of them, but they make the games a whole lot more fun.
