I don't think you necessarily lose anything by continuing the manga from where the anime ended, but the artwork is absolutely stunning and I don't believe it would take very long to read through what they adapted. Definitely would love to see your reactions to the manga, it goes some incredibly wild places and is a truly one of a kind series.
