Hey everyone! Update day, and let's hope 13 isn't some kind of unlucky update for us. :D
Alright, what's new, what's changed in this one? First off:
Important changes!:
I changed some things about how the game caches its images, it'll use RAM more extensively now. In my testing the peaks were just shy of 2GB. It ran fine on all my devices, which includes a 2016 phone, so hopefully it shouldn't cause too many problems. But please do let me know if you notice any unusual crashes, so that I can be aware of it, if this change causes any issues.

Then, what is new in this one? Quite a bit! It's probably one of our most spread-out updates, with bits and pieces in plenty different areas. So let's get into it.
First off, the story:
Two sections are the focus of this update, one is the scene with when you're deciding to try and stay on the ship. It already was included in part in the WIP update, and so received a little more polish, and was finished off.
The second section is the Wolf route if you're picking to leave the ship. Courtesy of Televassi, who really found their groove with this one i think!
There was supposed to be a third one, continuing on if you pursue the bribe. As it happens sometimes, some delays cropped up and we made the decision to postpone its inclusion rather than rush it. So I guess that is already a bit of a sneak peak for Update 14. :D
Art:
Art wise we've got two things. The smaller of the two is the Arthur v2 rework. You've seen it and read my thoughts on it. the v1 was largely fine already, so it's just a small refinement being applied to him.
And the larger one is that our bird boi Torres has finally gotten his sprite! He hasn't got many opportunities to shine just yet, but actually having a sprite available for him now will certainly increase the urge to plop him into more scenes. :D
Lastly in the art section we've got, I think, a little over a dozen new expressions, for Julian, Rajeeyah and a few others. These are being used in previous sections where i noticed particular expressions are missing, and will be used going forward of course.
New features:
Animations! We have got the first two tail animations in! Again thank you all for hitting the target for them. I'm aiming for about 2 new ones for each update. So if all goes well Update 15 should see the whole main cast "tailed".
This is one of the more resource intensive features. Renpy doesn't really have native animation function, so it's a bit clunky and leads to potential load times in some places, as the images are cached (the reason why I'm experimenting with the image cache).
In regular play this shouldn't be very noticeable, if at all, since Renpy tries to cache images ahead of time, but for example, if you're skipping it causes occasional pauses to load up the files.
Replay gallery! And another of the cool new features is the replay gallery! Now you can pick between if you just want to see the artwork of certain scenes, or if you like to play through them again.
it does have some limitations, so you are boxed into certain variable states, since I have to assign them at the beginning of the scene to avoid things breaking. But outside of that little limitation it's just an all around cool addition methinks!
