The Good Place 3x06 A Fractured Inheritance

This is one of my favorite Good Place episodes, because it starts some healing for some really big issues for both Eleanor and Tahani. When I first saw this episode, I got teary when Kamilah finally hugged Tahani back and said, "Our parents were wankers, weren't they?" It was such a relief for the two of them to connect in a genuine way for once. And to see Eleanor and her mom have that final chat was lovely. It's still heartbreaking -- Eleanor never got to have the mom that Donna will be for Patricia. Her saying "I wasn't worth changing for" is devastating as well. It truly shows how much Eleanor has bottled up over the years, putting up that shield to protect herself from vulnerability. But again, it feels like a place for Eleanor to start healing. I found that really moving. <3

Chidi's Hungarian was actually good :-D Of course it was only two words, but still - must've had a good coach.

This show is all about second chances. It's supposed to make you think, "why am I willing to give the main characters a pass, but not those other ones?" Obviously, the main difference between the two groups is that one is protagonists, and the other is antagonists. We naturally feel differently against antagonizing forces in our own lives, and stories reflect that back to us. It should make us work on our resentments, because bitterness and resentfulness hold us back from being the best versions of ourselves. In this episode, both Eleanor and Tahani get to have this realization, and as a result, let go of their resentments and grow as people.

I honestly think you might be the most forgiving person in the world, which is admirable. 😊 I understand that Eleanor's mom and Kamilah are less hateable after watching this episode, but it doesn't change the fact that they're really bad people, especially Eleanor's mom. I really don't think the reasons given here are enough of an excuse for their terrible behaviour. I guess I'm just way more resentful than you. 😅 Eleanor's "I just wasn't worth changing for" broke my heart. I think that's the saddest line in the show for me. I just wanted to reach into the TV screen and give her a hug. Such an emotional, great episode.

Michael is becoming so relatable. I mean who doesn't love to sit on the toilet and "shoot one out" 😂😂
