Added 2025-04-22 20:00:05 +0000 UTCLook, I enjoyed this episode, but it feels like we're still in a bit of a place I don't want to be in. I cannot tell you how good it feels to know you feel the same way. It's just not how I pictured the end of Buffy going at all and in a few ways, I do feel let down. Two episodes to go and it's nowhere near the united, friendship first, ending I thought we'd have. I know it was never going to be all happy and rainbows, but... you know what I mean 😔

Spike's speech to Buffy in this episode is beautiful. It definitely gave her the confidence and motivation she needed to go take on Caleb. I forgot to mention this in the last Buffy reaction, but remember Gacnar from "Fear, Itself" in season 4? He says to Buffy, "They're all going to abandon you, you know." A bit of foreshadowing there.

It's an absolutely terrible decision by the writers to throw under the bus all our characters who we've loved since episode 1 purely for the sake of one single plotline involving a character who - in my opinion - is a very decent and enjoyable character but not part of the core team. Meanwhile that core team are increasingly ignored. It just shows you where the writers' priorities lie and it's not where it should be.
