Doctor Who 6x13 The Wedding of River Song
Added 2025-01-22 20:00:07 +0000 UTCI really hate series finales! I never know what to expect, if we will lose a beloved Doctor... That's my biggest fear going into the final episodes. I am constantly on edge, always worried. It can be pretty hard to relax!
What a well done episode. I love how everything fell into place, finally made sense. Things I'd been wondering for SO long were answered. I really, really loved it.

2025-01-26 21:14:48 +0000 UTCThis episode continues to be one of my top favourites. Seeing the doctor and river finally get married. And seeing some pieces of the puzzle coming together. It's quite satisfying. Now I heard somewhere that apparently Jack was supposed to make an appearance in this episode. But the actor was busy working with the show torchwood that he couldn't. And this apparently was supposed to explain how he became just a head. People theories that the headless monks got him at some point. Or he joined them. Whichever it was that would explain why he became just a head. Think back to 'The Pandorica Opens'. There's a scene where River Song is meeting with Dorium and he sells River a "vortex manipulator fresh off the wrist of a handsome time agent". That could be from Jack. Dorium is working with the headless monks then so he must have watched him get beheaded. And then took the Vortex manipulator off his body.

2025-01-23 02:21:33 +0000 UTCSo... now you know what River whispered to the 10th Doctor in The Library to prove who she was... she whispered his name, only shared during the Gallifreyan wedding ceremony. As a child of New Who you may not know this but in the original run of the show a question mark was a part of the Doctors outfit from Tom Bakers 4th Doctor onwards and it's always one of the first questions people ask him. There's still some great stories to come for 11, can't wait to watch along with you. Love and light, as always.

The story has been going along very strongly and consistently throughout the series and this episode feels just like a continuation and conclusion. I really love how they've presented this series! Ooh, I didn't know about that minisode. I'm afraid it's too late for me to watch as I just watched 7x1 this week. Minisodes and me haven't worked well for a while, so I have forgotten to check for new ones π

So the 10th Doctor knew he'd be married to River? But then why did he not know her when he met her in the library? Am I just getting confused π Such a great final episode to the series, but I absolutely do not like final episodes due to the stress π€£ maybe one day I'll get a Doctor I don't like and will relish the day we get to the final HAHAHA

2025-01-22 20:50:26 +0000 UTCI knew this would be quite a ride for you as the finale of a complicated and mysterious story arc this season with lots of confusing and shocking moments, while at the same time setting up stuff for the future. Having the tissues ready was a good call for sure. It was interesting that after the flesh were introduced you thought that was how they're resolve the Doctor's death and you were almost right, you just hadn't yet seen the shapeshifting robot they actually used instead. Now you know for sure that River is the Doctor's wife (though I know you otherwise figured it out a while ago) I can finally mention a thought I had when watching Blink, when the Doctor said at the end the he was terrible with weddings, especially his own. Given that Moffat wrote that one (as he did River's debut episodes) and how far ahead the showrunners seem to have ideas and set them up I do wonder if he already had the idea for River (or a character like her) and was dropping a little foreshadowing for his future writing plans. The Brigadier was previously mentioned in The Poison Sky and while he wouldn't mean much to someone only familiar with the revival, he was a major character in the classic series who technically appeared alongside all the original 7 doctors both in-universe and real life (given the actor had a guest role in a First Doctor story). He died earlier that year with ill health preventing him from reprising his role in the revival and I like how they made the character's death so significant to the Doctor, the moment he realised he couldn't escape time forever. It really does justice to his long (though often difficult) friendship with the Doctor over the years and regenerations.

Can I ask what streaming service you are using for Doctor Who? as the numbering of episodes can be listed differently on different streaming services. A few things I forgot to mention: During the 2nd part of series 7 in 2013 it was the 50th anniversary of the show, to celebrate this there was a film made called "An Adventure in Space & Time" which was a docudrama on the making of the show when the show first started in 1963 which i'd highly recommend reacting to. Another one to react to would be the doctor who 1996 tv movie. I've seen not all but a fair amount of dr who reaction channels react to a few classic who episodes at this point in series 7. However, (unless there other ways) access to classic who for streaming is pretty limited unless you use a vpn for bbc iplayer to access classic who. If you decide & can get streaming access to watch a few episodes of classic who then there are some eps I can recommend (& likely other patreons & fans can recommend too) For the minisodes, if the episode numbering of series 7 is the same ep numbering that matches up with your streamer, you can use this guide, if not I'll update it to when I find out what your streamers episode numbering is. Series 1 had Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways, Series 2 had Army of Ghosts/Doomsday, Series 3 had The Sound of Drums/Last of the Time Lords, Series 4 had The Stolen Earth/Journey's End, The Specials had The End of Time Part 1/The End of Time Part 2 and Series 5 had The Pandora Opens/The Big Bang. Also, there is a 5-part minisode (on youtube as an omnibus/complete story) called Pond Life that you should definitely watch after the next episode/Christmas Special and before S7E1
