Buffy 6x22

We have made it to the end of season 6! What a RIDE! Full of tears, sadness, misery but there were some great moments in there, too.

This, to me, was such a wonderful season finale. I feel that it was done so well and of course I talk more about my thoughts and feelings at the end but I also feel satisfied and ready to move into season 7. The final season. I almost can't believe it...

🙀 Watch Order News 🙀

Before we get into the watch order details, I have a VERY IMPORTANT question. I know there are a couple of people here who prefer Buffy on Saturday and Angel on Tuesday. The watch order that I am doing means that once we get started with Angel, it will be Angel on Saturday, Buffy on Tuesday. Is this a big deal to anyone? Would people prefer I skip the next upload day so the Buffy/Saturday, Angel/Tuesday is kept? OR, I could upload an additional Buffy episode at some point before we start Angel and that will then allow us to keep the same days. It is Christmas week so I'm happy to skip if you guys want a break. I'll leave it up to you! Thank you!

Thank you to everyone who helped out a while ago with regards to the watch order of Buffy season 7 and Angel season 4. I've had some great advice and have gone with a MOSTLY alternating watch order which was suggested to me, keeping in mind to watch the end of Angel S4 before the end of Buffy. There is also an Angel episode that needs to be watched after a Buffy episode (it's Angel 4x15 watched after Buffy 7x17, I've got it all written down and numbered so I go and check each time before watching!)

I know some people here don't like Angel, and that's okay! You don't have to like everything, we are all different! Like I said, it's mostly alternating, so any disruptions to the Buffy episodes will be minor. Thank you to those who are understanding and patient. I really do appreciate you 💜

this is such a good season finale with willow as the big bad. its such a sad one but alison did a great job as willow in this and the interaction with files and everyone were great. I'm not much of a xander fan but he has his good parts and this was one of them. sorry I'm getting to this so late. season 6 is probably my favorite (6 and 3 are pretty closely tied for top in my mind) but I'm finally catching up. i love their misdirect with spike too. and yes it is rare, they are the only 2. most vampires without a soul would not want one. angel without a soul doesn't even want his.

BAHAHAHA!! I love that! I'll have to think of dear ol' M'Cookies and make him happy one day 🤣

Bah humbug. I want Buffy on Tuesday and Angel on Thursday like the good M'Fashnik intended! Do it his way! :) You do your thing. People can watch when you upload or they can suffer through somehow! Of course you'd think about others :)

Dusty

I never thought that Giles' reaction was awkward. We saw the caring and understanding reaction from Tara, the judging and egotistical reaction from Xander, and now we have a grown up, who came because the world's in danger and then his protegé briefs him with all that personal coming-of-age drama. What would be more fitting than hysterical laughter?

Oliver

Thank you, Britney! That is great to know. I might have worried about it unnecessarily, typical me 🤣

A thinking reactors season? I'll have to wake the old brain up haha

Juliette Gaming

Not a good time to get sick, I'm sorry you've not been well 😔 there's a bit going around here too. Fingers crossed you are well and truly on the mend!

That laughing part was a blooper?! That is hilarious!! It did feel a bit awkward at first to me too, but it really did lighten the mood and give us a funny little reminder at how wild the events have been 😅 Season 6 was dark and heavy, but I feel that (goodness I'm doing it again aren't I) season 7 might be a LITTLE less dark and HOPEFULLY a bit more positive! I'm such a sucker 🤣

Congratulations on finishing season 6, I'm so glad that you seemed to like it. In regards to the watch order, whatever is easiest for you. As it is I'm sorry I may not be able to watch all of season 7 as you're doing it due to financial constraints. Now onto the episodes... Of course Giles' entry last episode was a highlight. I remember literally jumping up and fist pumping the air when that scene first happened. Willow's Banshee scream at the Police station (believe the script actually refers to it as a 'Banshees wail', or something similar) is chilling, and I'm not sure how many fans at the time recognised the potential significance of that. A Banshee traditionally heralds the death of one person, Willow's banshee screech so that all can hear her basically indicates that she's fully prepared to kill everyone if she thinks she has to. Rack in the previous episode saying Willow's going to tear this town apart is the first indication of how far things might get; to me at least the Banshee wail is what confirms that. Willow is basically heralding death on a grand scale at that point. Giles cracking up laughing in this episode when Buffy tells him about Spike etc, was apparently a blooper that ASH decided to just go with, and the crew thought it worked so they kept it. There is a thing called paradoxical laughter, where you're so upset or saddened by something that you start laughing instead of crying. The scene always felt a bit awkward to me at first, but when Buffy starts to laugh and open up, I think it serves its purpose.

I'm sorry I haven't commented for a while, been a bit under the weather. I'm just about to watch your reaction now, and then I'll comment on both 21 and 22. :)

As cringeworthy as it was, the scene of Buffy and Giles laughing in the training room sums up my feelings for the season as a whole, regardless of several great individual episodes. Oh boy, season 7, a thinking reactor's season, full of thrills, chills and surprises and two of the funniest Buffy episodes ever, IMO.

"Uh oh, Daddy's home, I'm in wicked trouble now!". Alyson's acting as Dark Willow is amazing as over the course of these last few episodes you can see the traces of our Willow gradually fade so that when she faces off against Giles there is almost nothing left of her. Up until the point she drains his power which allows Xander to reach her, they've known each other for so long that it's fitting it should be him to 'save her'. I don't believe that Xander felt he could stop Dark Willow but as he said "World gonna end, where else would I want to be". And you can see the pain in Willow's expressions when she attacks Xander, so much so that tears run down her face as she is hurting him. That scene breaks me every time with amazing acting from Aly & Nick. A fitting end to a great (imo) season. Where there is despair, hope Where there is darkness, light And where there is sadness, joy...(Part of 'The Prayer of St. Francis').

This season finale, "Grave" is my favorite season finale of the whole show. I love the season 7 finale too, but that's the series finale, so I consider that to be slightly different than season finales. Most people seem to like last seasons finale the best, and it was a great one, I just like this finale a little more. One of my favorite moments in this one is when Buffy crawls out of the grave with a new lease on life. Such a great parallel to her crawling out of the grave in the premiere. I can't believe you're about to start season 7 already! That's crazy! It feels like it's flown by. I'm probably in the minority, but I absolutely love season 7.

Britney

I'm fine with the days being swapped. I never get to watch the Buffy reactions until 2 or 3 days after you post them because of weekend plans and obligations. Since I prefer Buffy to Angel, I would love being able to watch them the same day you post them. However, it's really not a big deal to keep the shows on the same days either since it's been that way since you started. I can just watch when I have time.

Britney

"OR, I could upload an additional Buffy episode at some point before we start Angel and that will then allow us to keep the same days." This would be my preference, but please do whatever works best for you.

Maia Brodsky

I'd rather keep Buffy on Saturday because I look forward to your reactions at the end of a long week! And I'd rather have an additional episode so that we don't have too long of a wait! However that's just my personal preference. Do whatever makes you happy! I think this is the most enjoyable season finale. Not the best. But the most enjoyable.

Appreciate your understanding, Kurt 💜

Maybe I overthink these things, Neil 🤭 I think deep down I often feel like a young girl, not wanting to disappoint people. I liked Dark Willow but I do know what you mean. I'm just glad to see Old Reliable back again, and the ending gives me so much hope. After such a depressing season 6, I see light at the end of the tunnel. And yes, I'm pretty sad about it all coming to an end soon. I don't know what I'll do afterwards. Last week I bought a Buffy charm bracelet and tarot cards I found online 😅 so I will still have a few goodies around to remind me of my time with the gang! Have a nice weekend yourself, Neil 💜 I bought Planet Zoo yesterday and was thinking of recording it soon so I want to check it out today and get myself familiar with the controls 😊 a pretty nice Saturday, I hope!

Juliette Gaming

My answer to your VERY IMPORTANT question is... I don't mind either way. As for these last few episodes, I'm not the biggest fan of them. For one thing I don't like what they did to Tara, nor to Willow either. It probably doesn't help that, as great an actress as Alyson Hannigan is, I always felt her performance of Dark Willow was a bit lacking somehow. Well, just one more season to go and then your Buffy adventure is over. How time flies! Enjoy your weekend Juliette 💜
