Doctor Who Meanwhile in the TARDIS Part 1

I think we have a couple of minisodes to look forward to with Series 5 and this is the first one!

Short but very sweet. I really liked it πŸ’œ

Doctor Who Meanwhile in the TARDIS Part 1

I do wonder if Steven Moffat just ripped off Douglas Adams here or payed an homage, but the TARDIS explanation sounds a lot like Adams description of a futuristic drink dispenser: "The way it functioned was very interesting. When the "Drink" button was pressed it made an instant but highly detailed examination of the subject’s taste buds, a spectroscopic analysis of the subject’s metabolism and then sent tiny experimental signals down the neural pathways to the taste centers of the subject’s brain to see what was likely to go down well. However, no one knew quite why it did this because it invariable delivered a cupful of liquid that was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea." (From the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)

Series 6 and 7 have prequel minisodes before each episode, there's actually three minisodes that slot between the christmas special and the start of series 6. hope you'll do them too!

Boone Bluemel

That sounds interesting!!

11 is my favourite doctor love his energy as hes the youngest incarnation matt smith was only 26 when he got the part and you also see him grow as the doctor and himself in his run also music is top tier this season

Dave

The prior new series were like a well shot Sci Fi TV show, like STNG. Starting here, it seems more cinematic.

Chas Summers

And here I thought I'd watched all the minisodes but I hadn't watched this one before lol. I loved it! ❀

That is a spoiler. Please delete or edit your comment.

As much as I like Rose, Martha and Donna, Amy is my favorite companion...or should I say Amy/Rory...

The Dog Walker

If you are at all interested, I can tell you about a time in the classic series when the Doctor actually did some repair work on the TARDIS' chameleon circuit.

Randall Lilly

For such a short video it sure does ooze personality from the Doctor and Amy. It gives great insight to their characters.

SeeJay

I wouldn't even be surprised if he intentionally broke it.

I remember the 9th Doctor talking about the police box, but maybe I forgot about the disguising part! Oops 🀣 I also agree that he for SURE knows how to fix it. He's very clever, after all! But he likes it too much hahaha very cute!

The mention of the chameleon circuit getting "stuck" has been mentioned before. To quote the 9th Doctor when talking to Mickey back in S1E11: "It's called a chameleon circuit. The TARDIS is meant to disguise itself wherever it lands, like if this was Ancient Rome, it'd be a statue on a plinth or something. But I landed in the 1960s, it disguised itself as a police box, and the circuit got stuck." The default outer shell is a simple silver cylinder. That's what it looks like after it is grown. It only changes when it leaves Gallifrey and lands in some other time and/or place. We all know the Doctor probably knows exactly how to fix it but simply doesn't want to. He likes the police box.

What a fun bonus for the weekend! Glad you enjoyed it! Looking forward to the next episode!
