Doctor Who Planet of the Dead - Clean Early Access

I quite enjoyed this special episode! There was one part that I was a bit iffy about, but I'll have to wait and see what you thought of that as well 😅 Maybe that's just a me problem haha!

What an incredible location, though! I know very little about cinematics, but this looked real to me. Go on - deflate me - tell me it was all green screen and in a studio.

I hope you all have a brilliant rest of your week 💜

Doctor Who Planet of the Dead - Clean Early Access

Malcolm was played by the wonderful Lee Evans. I highly recommend you go check out some of his comedy on YouTube. No need to react to it, but he's a stand-up comedian, very family-friendly, and hilarious. Back in 2010, he was a very current and significant household name, hence why they cast him.

I Cant really type so all i came to ssay was thanks for the vid, and "you look timelord" stole my breath like wow that was believable as hell then, might be the dissociation lool

A lot of this episode falls apart under scrutiny. But what the hell. Sometimes you need a bit of fluff to cleanse the palate.

Martin Holt

Really can't wait for the next episode! One of my favourites

Hi Julie Did you catch that comment I left in "Stolen Earth" Clean Early Access for patrons

Not one of my favourite episodes but it was decent enough. Some good guest stars (I love Lee Evans, great comedian) and I thought that Christina would have made for a fun companion. Her escape at the end was a bit dumb though, showing the UK police to be even more inept than they are in real life! Great reaction as always Juliette. Thanks.

Neil Hanson

probably should've ended it with her escaping, but this is an easter special. maybe it was symbolic? looking forward to you learning more about who will knock 4 times

Jim

Also, this episode always reminds me of The Langoliers.

Nebraska

The ending is a little wonky but it does mostly make sense in context. Its the UK so their only immediate way to break in to the bus was to use their fists and clubs. They could have successfully broken or popped out some of the glass but they wouldn't be able to create an opening large enough to enter the bus. The only thing they could do is further damage city property. This UNIT squad is not going to try to stop someone that the Doctor released. They all gave him a round of applause when he landed the bus.

Nebraska

Actually probably my least favorite special, but all in all still a fun episode! I personally don't think Christina would've made a good long term companion but she was a fun inclusion here, and gave us a new doctor-companion dynamic which kept things interesting.

Geo

No, I don't know who that is haha Edit: I just looked him up and I've actually seen the Get Out movie!! I didn't recognise him!

Juliette Gaming

IT WAS REAL! Oh, this has just completely made my day. How cool! The fact that the bus was broken but they made it work?! I'd never have thought otherwise. It was awesome!!

Juliette Gaming

I assume you've watched it by now but I'm looking forward to next episode. One of the greatest of all time imo

The specials were fantastic and a pretty good way to get around David's limited availability. He was touring with his rather excellent production of Hamlet. I was stoked to see Michelle Ryan who would have been a great companion. I was already a fan of her through The Bionic Woman. Sadly that series was a victim of the writer's strike.

Amy Lillian Bone

This was indeed an Easter special. The next episode was released in November 2009 and the last 2 specials were on Christmas Day 2009 and New Year's Day 2010.

Did you notice a very young Daniel Kaluuya before he became a Hollywood star as "poor Tina's BF" Barclay?

Jason

It was real! In fact that's the reason for the damaged bus. They shipped one of two identical busses to Dubai but in the harbour a container was dropped on it... Instead of waiting for the spare, they decided to use the damaged bus and even damaged the one they left in Wales so they could use it for the last scenes that were shot in Wales. 😂

Oliver

It was very real! The desert landscape was Dubai! Famously the bus was badly damaged in transit from Wales to UAE but Russell altered the script & made it work in the story. This was the very first episode of Doctor Who filmed in crisp HD!! Everything going forward will look that little bit better. This was shot incredibly quickly (Starting in Jan) as they had no choice but to keep to the Easter air date & what with the bus debacle (& a sandstorm leaving tons of footage unusable) it became a nightmare to shoot & problem solve. The whole episode was only finished 2 days before broadcast!! Your 100% right it was the Ood who said "I think your song must end soon" 🤔 The actor who played Malcolm is an incredible comedian called Lee Evans & I would love to tell you he returns but he doesn't unfortunately (he does get a few mentions in a very future episode though) I really enjoyed Michelle Ryan & again I'm afraid to tell you that she does not return on television but she did get have some audio adventures in the Big Finish audios

Jason

This is my favourite of the specials, not sure why tbh but I always have a good memory watching this for the first time Carmen's prediction/warning at the end of the episode still gives me a nervous feeling, I know what happens and what the knocking means but it still creeps me out
