OH MY GOSH. OH MY GOSH! What an episode! An absolute BELTER. I am so in love with Series 4. It's managed to surprise me, shock me, make me LAUGH, and break my heart - sometimes all at once.

What an amazing episode. I hope you all enjoy as much as I did πŸ’œ

Hi Julie Just 1 more call back There was a comment made by the Doctor that someone tried to move the Earth before. This is a reference to the 2nd story involving the Daleks and was broadcast in 1964. As The Doctor said a very long time ago, William Hartnell was still playing first The Doctor.Β  Now there were 2 films made in the 60's based on the first and second Dalek stories. The first film is called Doctor Who and The Daleks, and the second film is Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. In the second film there is a character called Tom, A police constable who gets caught up with the Doctor' as he stumbles into the Tardis thinking it was an actual police box. Tom was played by a young Bernard Cribbins

Good point - for Jules' background, Dreamland was an official animated Doctor Who serial starring the Doctor with an adventure that took place between the 15 November 2009 live action television special, and the Christmas Day 2009 TV special. There's also a two-part Sarah Jane Adventures story called 'The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith' which fits directly *before* the 15 November 2009 special. Just to confuse things! Jules can just safely watch the five specials in the order they were broadcast though (and catch up on the Sarah Jane two-partner and the Dreamland animated series later) without losing the main thread of the story.

and Dreamland!

Boone Bluemel

That's a really good idea.

It gets confusing where to post the comments haha! Maybe I should actually turn off commenting on one of the episodes? That's actually not a bad idea! We worked together to find a solution πŸ˜…

What a celebration this episode was of the first four years of the revived show, with all of the companions making a return. It was joyous, electrifying and heart-breaking, all at the same time. A brilliant, tantalising cliffhanger, one of the best in Who's history that absolutely guaranteed people would tune in again the next week. How Sarah Jane set herself up as an investigator with a son and a super computer in her attic is the subject of the spin-off show, The Sarah Jane Adventures. Very definitely worth a watch. You'd very much enjoy it. Likewise, how Captain Jack established Torchwood (very different to the Torchwood you see at the end of Season 2) is explored in the more adult spin-off show Torchwood. I'm not sure if you know, but after this season 4 aired in 2008, the following year, 2009, was a bit of a gap year for the show, with season 5 not arriving until 2010. I won't explain why - because spoilers! - but suffice to say there were five feature-length specials broadcast after the season 4 finale as follows: 1. Christmas Day 2008 2. Easter 2009 (11 April) 3. 15 November 2009 4. Christmas Day 2009 5. 1 January 2010 - New Year's Day Season 5 then got underway in April 2010 and ran as usual. I hope that helps! :) [I wasn't sure whether to post this here or in the other thread, I hope that's okay?]

Turn left, this and the next one are 3 of the best episodes they have in my opinion. Glad you enjoyed 😊

And if you want some even darker stuff: "Torchwood" - 4 seasons with Captain Jack and his team, two of which (and their main set) you saw in this episode. Btw, the woman (Gwen Cooper) is played by the same actress as the maid Gwyneth, who closed the rift in Cardiff in Series 1, episode 3 (The ghost story with Charles Dickens) Gwen is a relative of Gwyneth and Torchwood is set in Cardiff, above the rift. (And there is one guest star in one episode - I won't tell, but you'd be surprised)

Oliver

I know you already have some shows on your schedule but if you want to see more light-hearted Doctor-Who-like stuff you can watch "The Sarah Jane Adventures" Is targeted for a children audience and tells about her son, some other children, this (bit ridiculous) Computer "Mr. Smith" and K9 saving the Earth. It was on parallel to Doctor Who.

Oliver

Well done for immediately seeing the connection to Mr Potter of the Titanic episode. He really used his wealth wisely by founding the Mr Potter foundation.

Oliver

I will never forget the agony of watching that cliffhanger live and having to wait 7 days for the resolution!

Yes 🀣🀣

Series 4 and 5 are amazing.

Did you spot in Turn Left when Donna's mother unpacks Donna's box after she gets made redundant, that there's a stapler which belongs to Bee?
