Doctor Who 4x11 Turn Left - full

And here is the full reaction ✨

Doctor Who 4x11 Turn Left - full

Comments

Loved this one! Like you said it's so interesting that one choice can change the universe. A world without the doctor isn't a world I'd want.

Larissa Reimer

And if you are referring to the unaltered timeline, she wouldn't have recognized the Doctor in another body Doctors 1-9 wouldn't have recognized her. 11-13 wouldn't have encountered her because... (No. Spoilers.)

Oliver

Are you referring to this episode? She wasn't looking for him in this episode because the first encounter was unmade.

Oliver

That assumes events are statistically independent. But from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, its more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff

Paul Hess

Statistically, Donna should have run into another Doctor when she was looking for him, or the tenth doctor out of her own personal time stream

Boone Bluemel

My goodness, it's a wonderful episode! This series 4 has been so incredible!

Juliette Gaming

Love this episode. Can't wait for the final 2...........

Love love love this episode, and the episodes after this 🙏 I just absolutely love Donna's despair because she unfortunately doesn't believe that she's not special (which she is, absolutely!) Also Rose!! The shock, hope, despair, and love in the Doctor's eyes and face when he started to piece it together... "What did she look like?" He starts to question. "She was blonde." ... The hope starts to build. "What was her name?" I can just visibly see the hope just grow, and it's like his hearts going million miles per hour. And when Donna finally says those words... he just loses it. I LOVE that conversation and the pure emotion on his face. It's like the Doctor's been suppressing his emotions since Doomsday and finally he let's them out... That scene always makes my heart beat! 🤍

One little directorial subtlety I've always liked about this episode: When Donna first meets the fortune teller, she rejects her offer and turns left to walk away. Then, when she is persuaded to enter the fortune teller's booth after all, she has effectively turned right instead -- the wrong decision. That's the whole story laid out for you, right there.

Steven Cooper

This episode references the spin-off shows with Sarah Jane (Adventures) going to the hospital and Torchwood (Captain Jack) going to the Sontaran fleet!

TheAlfanator

In the Trickster's parallel universe, Vesuvius never erupted. Also, the Master never escaped the end of the universe. Professor Yana died not knowing anything. Don't even get me started on River Song. Wibbley wobbley.

Martin Holt

A little detail back in the Fires of Pompeii episode... One of the soothsayers said to Donna "There's something on your back." I love those little bits of foreshadowing that don't mean anything at the time, but in hindsight make complete sense.

ME: 'Man, after SILENCE IN THE LIBRARY, FOREST OF THE DEAD, and MIDNIGHT, I'm ready for something not creepy.' TURN LEFT. ME: ... ME: 'Goddammit.'

Martin Holt

This episode really shows how much of a negative headspace The Doctor was in after he lost Rose, the fact that if it wasn't for Donna he would've drowned himself along with The Racnoss really shows how much her loss affected him, and why The Doctor needs companions to keep him sane and moral. Also it's impressive you noted the difference in Billie Piper's voice. I think one aspect is that she's trying to play Rose differently since in this episode she's acting more like The Doctor and is coming off as more wise and mysterious. But Billie Piper herself admitted in behind the scenes videos that she actually forgot how to do her Rose Tyler voice and embarrassingly rushed out to buy the Doctor Who DVD sets right before they began filming so that she could binge the episodes she was in to try and remember how to play Rose lol.

Doccyy

Did you recognise the fortune teller?? That was actress Chipo Chung who played "Chantho" the female Malmooth & assistant to "Professor Yana" from S3 "Utopia"

Jason

Who in God's name told you they didn't like Donna Noble?? She is beloved by sooo many fans!! She is my number 1 companion, the ultimate best friend to The Doctor (Especially the 10th) & truly iconic!! She is not the same woman we met in The Runaway Bride but I even liked her. She has grown sooo much as a character

Jason

There are many "explanations" as to why Rose sounds different. Billie said in an interview that she just couldn't quite remember how she did the voice (as her natural voice is more posh/middle class). Apparently, she also had dental surgery and had to wear prosthetic teeth to get the "Rose" look which affected her speech. There are also people saying she had Botox too soon to the filming so no one really knows for sure.

OverWims

This is genuinely my favourite episode ever made. The concept is so cool and the next few episodes are sooo good too! Glad you enjoyed

Warrior Man

I love this episode so much! It's fascinating to see what could happen if the Doctor and Donna hadn't met. Billie Piper said she found it really difficult to find the voice of Rose again due to a number of reasons. It's a little strange to get used to it at first lol. Midnight and Turn Left were purposefully written in a way that they could film both episodes at the same time. That's why one is companion lite, and the other is Doctor lite. I'm sure when they write these episodes, they expect them to be filler, but here they ended up with two of the most amazing episodes! Throw Blink into the mix and you've got another Doctor/Companion lite episode that just shines!!

SeeJay

This is what I mean by beautiful writing and why Donna is the Doctors most important companion. Also, do remember what I said near the beginning of the series about breadcrumbs? Have you spotted them all? I can't wait to find out. As others have said, the next two episodes are phenomenal and will blow you away... I'm surprising myself at how excited I am for your next reactions. Love & light as always. 💜

The Rising Ape

This episode always makes me cry! We know how important the Doctor is to the world and the Universe as a whole, but seeing what happens if he wasn't there is just 😭 I have no words for how brilliant Donna is, and this episode is incredible, definitely one of my favourites 💓

Melanie

The fact that Donna says she isn't special and that's she's essentially worthless just breaks my heart. It took her travelling with the Doctor, seeing the wonders of the universe for her to realise her worth. Rose telling her she's the most important woman in the whole of creation yet she shrugs it off, ugh!!! I could cry!!! Donna is everything to me. I'm glad she's your favourite companion because she's my fav too. Just an ordinary, middle aged woman being the most fun, exciting and compassionate best friend for the Doctor. Whewwww, strap in because the next two episodes are literally mind blowingly good and I'll be right there with you for the ride! Great reaction as always, much love <3

PS turn left might just be my favourite doctor who episode of all time, such a moving, and eerie episode!!

yet another great video juliette :) i’m excited to see your reactions to the rest of this season! - time goes so fast, how are you almost on season 5 already?!?! insane hahaha x

len ☆

The fact you missed ‘and Billie Piper’ in the title sequence is everything to me!! I hate that the title sequence spoils the surprise of this episode being Rose’s big return
