I also like the idea of a Matrix-like world where the issue of finite resources are dealt with by an enigmatic psychologist character who tricks you into filling in the gaps ("and then you remembered"). The concept of the living shadows is a little wacky but brilliant for a suspenseful story. The poetic but horrible ghosting. The cliffhanger which is imo wonderfully done with is repetitive chants by the ghosting crew member and the Donna-faced terminal. The way we are mislead into thinking Doctor Moon in Cal's reality is not aware of her situation but while he's in fact a crucial part of it. I can't remember everything I liked about it right now but I prefer this kind of storytelling to one-idea-plots but also to complicated multi-plot-stories where no plotline is finished or used in an interesting way. I wonder if this was kind of his application to become the next showrunner (which he did, from series 5-10). And, yes, River Song is a lovely name...
