TV Series Suggestions!
Added 2023-05-29 04:27:22 +0000 UTCHello 💜
Band Of Brothers is coming to an end soon and I'm toying with the idea of either starting a new series or having fortnightly movie reactions. Editing a movie recently made me pretty cranky, so I'm thinking if another series might be the way to go 🤣
Ideally, it would be GREAT if it wasn't a very long series as we already have Buffy and X Files which are both on the lengthy side. Also, no anime due to their penchant for copyright strikes!
I was (maybe weirdly) toying with the idea of a reality show as I do enjoy those VERY much. I've never seen Selling Sunset or The Kardashians and I think both of those are popular but not sure if they are popular on YouTube. But I wanted to ask here if you guys had any recommendations for me to check out!
I've had recommendations for Scrubs, The Pacific, Farscape... but I really wanted to check with YOU guys here for ideas! Thank you 🤗💜

Agree, Chernobyl and the Pacific!

2023-06-03 15:12:22 +0000 UTCI've not seen Sherlock but I adore Stranger Things! I watched all the seasons with my family and it was SO GOOD 🤩

2023-06-02 03:49:30 +0000 UTCthe episodes of it are movie-length so feel free to ignore this suggestion, but in the vein of X-Files, something shorter and more grounded in reality could be BBC Sherlock? it's 4 seasons with 3 episodes each, but they are super long. the other suggestion i'd put forward, if you haven't seen it, is Stranger Things? the former is a bit of a wild card, but the latter has a massive and supportive community! there's 4 seasons with the 5th arriving soon-ish! and the tone going between butt-kicking seriousness to comedy is very Buffy! much love to you 🖤

2023-06-01 21:19:17 +0000 UTCI have a suggestion for a show that I never see reactors do, so I'll understand if it's not that appealing. Nancy Drew. It's the newest iteration that's been airing on the CW for the last few years. It's a little spooky, but has great characters and plot twists and relationships (familial and romantic) throughout. It's aired 3 seasons, 49 episodes, and the 4th and final season starts tomorrow. I think so many people pass it over because they think it will be something they won't like, but it's intelligent, heartwarming, and funny, with a strong/smart/brave female protagonist. It's also the only show I've connected with as strongly as I connected to Buffy. Just a suggestion! Looking forward to whatever you may pick.

2023-05-31 07:11:03 +0000 UTCAsh Vs Evil Dead has me curious... I've not seen the movies though so I'm not sure if I need to! Maybe I could watch the movies on the channel 🤩

2023-05-30 07:22:48 +0000 UTCYes! I did think I wanted to try some movies as well but like I said in this post, I edited a movie recently and it made me very cranky to edit as it took me from 8am to 5pm to edit and it was frustrating 🤣 Perhaps the way to combat this is to not do the whole thing in one day. But I have two movies edited and ready for when BoB is finished... Million Dollar Baby and Fury. I was also gifted a movie from someone to react to that one too, so that's something on the way as well, but it's still in the mail 🤭 So there are movies coming, but definitely not weekly. I want to see how the above 3 movies do and I guess if they do well, then maybe it might inspire me to keep going 💜

2023-05-30 07:20:55 +0000 UTCI've only followed 2 reactors who have done it and I didn't see too much hate. Although if you've seen more then I'll take your word for it. :) Either way. Great show.

2023-05-30 04:14:17 +0000 UTCMy hesitation with breaking bad is that fandom can be rather hateful. There’s more than one reactor that has either dropped the show or will not check out any of the subsequent content, even on their own time, because of how the fandom treated them. I do agree the show is worth watching, though, reaction or not.

2023-05-30 03:12:01 +0000 UTCIf you haven't already seen it, Breaking Bad would be a good choice to react to. There is a large community of people who watch those reactions so it would be a good way to grow your audience a bit. :) Otherwise Scrubs would be a fun one to watch you react to.

2023-05-29 22:42:01 +0000 UTCAbove I agreed with Milamber about two shows, but I was wondering if you had any desire to react to movies? I thought that you would eventually try a few more movies.

2023-05-29 20:14:26 +0000 UTCDefinately Dollhouse and Pushing Daisies are great choices. Dollhouse was produced by people who worked on Buffy and Firefly.

2023-05-29 20:13:20 +0000 UTCVeronica Mars, Dollhouse. The Good Place would be great. One that hasn’t been mentioned is Pushing Daisies. Terriers is only one season, as is Wonderfalls.
Milamber
2023-05-29 19:16:46 +0000 UTCThe Good Place is only 4 seasons, 13 episodes per season, 22 minute long episodes. It is a great and very funny show (with occasional pathos).

2023-05-29 19:07:21 +0000 UTCI love the idea of doing a reality show! There's one on Amazon Prime that I like, Tampa Baes. Focuses on a group of lesbians and the high school drama that they spread around town. It's hilarious and trashy in all the best ways, and it's only 8 episodes.
TYRONE HUGGINS
2023-05-29 18:23:20 +0000 UTCBlack Books (2000). It's a short BBC mini-series, 3 seasons, each with 6x 30m episodes. Stars Dylan Moran, Bill Bailey, and Tamsin Grieg; and is absolutely hilarious. It's about a very anti-social bookstore owner.

2023-05-29 15:43:48 +0000 UTCI strongly recommend Chernobyl if you haven't seen it. It is real history everyone should know and it's only 5 episodes so you can get right through it while planning a longer one.

2023-05-29 09:20:30 +0000 UTCThe pacific is good to round out the other end of the war series. Chernobyl is a good one too, it's only 5 episodes.

2023-05-29 09:03:18 +0000 UTCThank you, Richard! It's 7pm here and I've got it exporting now. I'll upload it first thing in the morning and it should be all good to go by lunchtime Aussie time tomorrow 💜

2023-05-29 08:58:19 +0000 UTCThe Pacific makes sense, but if you want to take a break from war, I would suggest Wednesday if you haven't seen it.

2023-05-29 08:20:46 +0000 UTCI don’t even care about the timer, the blurred screen is more important for syncing up, as long as we sync it up correctly at the beginning. Thanks.

2023-05-29 07:32:52 +0000 UTCThank you for reminding me! I've just started editing it now. It's a bit painful as I recorded Firefly and the majority of the X Files without even thinking about full reactions so there's no countdown and it's a bit messy but at least it's on the go now 🤗 Thank you for your patience!!

2023-05-29 07:27:06 +0000 UTCSome shorter series I've enjoyed include The Last of Us, Chernobyl, Black Mirror, Ash vs Evil Dead, The Haunting of Hill House, The Alienist (nothing to do with aliens whatsoever), and The End of the F***ing World.

2023-05-29 06:06:33 +0000 UTCWynonna Earp! The Good Place.I second the previous noms of Veronica Mars and Lucifer.

2023-05-29 06:06:19 +0000 UTCAs a Trekkie, I *have* to suggest the Star Trek franchise. Start with the original series and work your way forward. 😁 It's hopeful, fun, and actually makes one think. Annnnd there are the occasional universally reviled episodes to make fun of. ☺

2023-05-29 05:26:30 +0000 UTCFYI, here is a trailer for Bojack with out of context non spoiler short scenes with all the accolades different publications have given the show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iTMm7agE3M

2023-05-29 05:04:47 +0000 UTCMy list would be Veronica Mars, Lucifer, Person of Interest, or Dollhouse. Dollhouse is really short, but good.

2023-05-29 04:59:56 +0000 UTCDollhouse is great, but IMO I’d do it later ... it makes more sense when it comes to retaining a fandom. Same with canon in the woods, in your eyes, and dr horrible. All make for great reactions but makes the most sense to do them in series. For a popular, current, show I’d recommend legend of vox machina. American animation that is probably not what you’d expect. For live action Veronica Mars is great. If you want something really out in left field how about the OG Munsters (there’ve been 2 reboots)?

2023-05-29 04:59:56 +0000 UTCFarscape is great, but might be much while you are doing Buffy. Scrubs has several seasons, but it's comprised of short creative episodes. If you like reality shows, I suggest Arrested Development. It didn't last long. It is funny. The humor builds. It is the king of callbacks. Altho it is not a reality show, it has a camera crew following them feel to it. 30 Rock is a good short comedy show also. it is a show about the people who make a variety show, but that description does it no justice. EDIT: It is also a good introduction to Will Arnett, and he is phenomenal in Bojack Horseman, which I think your channel would really vibe with.

2023-05-29 04:55:37 +0000 UTCThe Last of Us and Arcane, both 1 season long right now, and both are awesome shows, bring tissues. Arcane is animated, but so many others have reacted to it already, so copyright can’t be that bad. Also, still wondering when we might get the full reaction to Serenity on Patreon?

2023-05-29 04:54:42 +0000 UTCWEDNESDAY if you haven't seen it yet. Only 8-9 episodes in this first released season and extremely popular smash hit. Would be good for ratings. :)

2023-05-29 04:42:11 +0000 UTCThe Last of Us, Wednesday, and The Peripheral All three have their first season out and a second ordered.

2023-05-29 04:41:24 +0000 UTCThe somewhat obvious suggestion is Dollhouse, since it shares a lot of the same writers and directors as well as acting talent with both Buffy/Angel and Firefly and like Firefly was cancelled early so it's only a couple of seasons long. The other two series that immediately spring to mind for me are Peaky Blinders and the Netflix Daredevil. Both also shorter and both I think make for good reactions, and although there's a couple of channels that have done them I personally wish there were more. Unless of course you've seen them already lol I'm sure whatever you pick in the end will be fine👍 Edit: Wynonna Earp or Lost Girl would be another couple of good ones and are of a genre that would fit in with what we've watched here so far
