FREE EP?!

hey janitors,

we are asking for your input on which episode we should release from behind the paywall. something you would want to send your friends, think would work to get more listeners, or you contains inside jokes you think more people should know.

give us a lil reasoning behind your choice as well.

thanks in advance

FREE EP?!

Comments

Tombstone is epically hilarious. She's Irish...

The Coin Guy

TMNT!

Greg MacDonald

I might be late to this but I’m re listening to surviving the game and it needs to be a free ep. It’s amazing and it’s a great ep that isn’t 5 hours and great impressions.

Dillon Condon

Hell comes to frogtown

Elliott

Hell Comes to Frogtown. Put yer blouse on.

John

Marked For Death is a criminally underrated episode with Titty Fucking Hatcher

StangerIBarelyKnowHer

Conan the Destroyer. The bit where Dar has hurt feelings over Kuffs being made part of the team before him is maybe the funniest thing I’ve ever heard in my life.

Wampa_One

I heard he couldn't go through with it so the squirrel committed seppuku

Nolan-Globus

For what it's worth, I am relistening to Assault on Precinct 13 and it's an all-timer. Takes an hour to get to Stangergorgon. You are probably looking for something more recent though. This is a great podcast.

Dustin

Putting a vote in for The Saint ep. My memory is that it is an hilarious episode with lots to make fun of from the movie and lots of imitations.

Stephen Parker

Is it?

Johnald C Reagan

damn congo is a great pick but the movie is so hard to watch lol

connie voltaire

It's already on the free feed, isn't it?

connie voltaire

I think it was The Fan for me. I couldn't believe the movie they were describing was real.

connie voltaire

Honestly? Lawnmower Man. Obviously it's very long and all over the place but it was the most entertaining episode I've heard in years, though maybe that says more about me than anything else. The tangents are what true ABZ episodes are made of imo. If not that I found the episode on The New Barbarians, Robot Jox, and Twister would be my picks, though that may just because of how much I enjoyed the movies.

connie voltaire

SHAFT!, MenAtWork, Mechanic, Hooper, Superwoman, the guys are there, the cycled jokes are ther, som great abz origins are told, and fun inclusive content, and show newbies tht is it wasnt on VHS or film you're not covering it.

tmcms

I like the way you incorporated the martial arts into your poll tonight.

Dr. Pepper (for mama)

Desperado truly introduces Gwildor. It is a fun episode. Sex, guns and great performances. Everyone is having a good ole time.

Dr Oops

You can trust centari!

Steve!

Clubber Lang's apartment!!!

Steve!

I forgot how good that bit was!!!! Literal laugh out loud

Al-Insan Lashley

Twister explains it.

Chris Jones

What even is this movie?

Paul

Who even are these guys

TimSharterofPittsburgh

Iirc Ninja Terminator

J D

Hell Comes to Frogtown or The Omega Man I need more people to develop invasive thoughts around “put cher blouz on Leeza, put cher blouz on” and “What? *who* is this? …I called you?”

Don Bell

How are you guys gonna explain Stangerbot or Stangergorgon to new listeners? 😅 They’ll be like, “What the hell is this? What’s going on?” 😄

Paul

I thought Hooper was really interesting. Not enough Burt in the free feed. Stanger tells a bunch of good stories. Hello.

Dr. Pepper (for mama)

I will admit that I have listened to the Street Fighter episode several times. Stanger introduces the group to OnlyFans. And then regrets it later in the episode.

Dr. Pepper (for mama)

Lawnmower Man

Rynosarus

Karate Kid would have a lot of reach since its so well known. Could be a good intro to the ABZ steez

Max Power

Lawnmower Man because it is a lot of content (value for the cheapskates) and because it is a full baptism by fire into the beautiful insanity of the ABZ universe. The Program would also appeal to the squares while providing deep insight into college athletes’ choice of library wardrobe.

Ben Kirst

Same here!

Patrick O'Neill

I know this isn’t the question but I wanted to say the free ep of Rocky 3 is why I decided to sign up in the first place.

David

Add my vote to any Bronson episode. Magestyk & Mechanic are both standouts. Also Street Fighter for Stangers’ “so ard” impression.

David

Kickboxer. Have you seen it? It just came out. It’s so good! Do it for mama. (need to use bathroom again)

Dr. Pepper (for mama)

Oh! Another suggestion: DeepStar Six. Just got to the Emerson joke and 😘🤌 ✨

Nick LaPole

Duel to the Death. The Boyz all loved it, it's the birth of the FinDom bit, and the "too into Bushido" runner kills me.

Giri Busey

I will echo the growing sentiment that the world needs to know the REAL Gwildor.

Ryan Steele

Too many to name. Lawnmower Man stood out during the more recent episodes. And if I recall correctly, Manhunter has the beginnings of all of the post Masters of the Universe Gwildor rants. That was one of the episodes that hooked me. Also, anything with Charles Bronson.

Sean Hickey

Predator 2 episode

Activated Robot

Lawnmower man would remove any accidentally subscriptions 🫡

jamie clements

Robot Jox from recent episodes and going back in the vault, Enemy Mine Two all time bangers.

Activated Robot

Man Hunter is in my all-time top 3 eps. It hits all the notes in terms of comedy, rapport amongst the boyz, and Hollywood knowledge and lore. If you want something more recent, I think Sidekicks or Samurai Cop are both good choices. I am ashamed to admit how many times I've listened to them already.

Fallon Wilson

The Arachnophobia ep just for the Miss Piggy findomming the spider from Wild Wild West bit

Ash C

Rocky 3. The tangent about Clubber and his roommate is gold. It shows how the boyz can carry on a bit, but you don't need context from another episode to get it. Plus it's an underrated movie of a popular franchise. The original and 4 are cultural touchstones, but 3 seems to be overlooked.

Johnald C Reagan

Did a bit of digging and I really enjoyed the Twister and Tremors commentary! +1 to the Bill Paxton voice.

Nick LaPole

Robot Jox because I was trying to tell the Lou Holtz story to my brother but I wasn't doing it justice, so I'd rather he just hear it directly from Stanger. Also has a great appearance by Dan from Chickamauga.

Jacob Pirtle

Don’t recall which episode it was but the fin dom miss piggy episode is a fave. You probably don’t want to spend any more time on the show than you already do but have you considered releasing free, shorter clips? the “best of the best show” was helpful when it came to introducing friends to that show and if I fell a few episodes behind it served as a weekly reminder of both what i was missing out on and why I subscribed in the first place.

joeygorp85

Tombstone, Face Off, Conan the Destroyer, or any one with the boyz riffing and doing and have fun. Thanks for all the laugh Boyz!

Alex Hindley

The selected episode should be edited to 90 minutes as crazy as that sounds. The people I try to get to listen have issue with episode runtime. Shorter free eps could hook more listeners. I’d love an 8 hour episode myself but others may find it a little overwhelming. 3 days of the condor is my vote for free ep.

Jeff

I agree on a Bronson being a good choice. Mr Majestyk is also a great choice. I never get tired of hearing melons in the Bronson voice.

Alex Verno

Lawnmower Man ep is sooooooo good!

Benny Karas

Days of thunder would be a great choice for the preview feed. In a southerner who’s spectrum-y about cars though so I’m biased

AFistfulofGwildors

Rocky 4 - two of my favorite bits mashed up: Dar, and Clubber’s roommate

Joe Certa

Conan the Destroyer is a go-to ep

Indiana the Dog

of recentish ones, echoing support for Knightriders, Day of the Jackal and Lawnmower Man! I love that Knightriders has become a "key" ABZ film, as it has always been one of my favs.

Kevin

Death Wish is a favorite of mine. I relisten to it pretty often if I have a road trip coming up or something. That one was my Bronson introduction as well. Its the first DW, but not the third DW ABZ ep which adds a lot to how good the conversations are TMNT has some favotire stories of mine outside of being a good ep. I have some friends I would send that link to if it were free as its not a rare movie I am convincing them to watch just to listen to a 3 hour pod.

Spinach Mouth

Lawnmower Man. I'm really happy that CyboMan has become a regular fixture.

Justin manjourides

Death Race 2000

Dash Maclunkey

This ep is the birth of "I'm basically Stanger" which makes it an all timer

Seth Buchanan

Not sure which episode would be best for drumming up new business but Stop or My Mom Will Shoot is one of my favorites that I want my cheapskate buddy at work to listen to.

Stanger's Stache

Days of Thunder - I think it walks the line between familiar and obscure (lots haven’t seen it, including me). Honestly any somewhat normal ep would work great. Abnormal would be like Superman 2 since there was so much discussion about what a mistake it was to choose the film lol. But truly every ep is worth sharing - keep it up! I’d prefer not too famous, like Usual Suspects, since most of the show doesn’t deal with super famous films.

Matt Archambault

Tombstone big time. It’s a movie everybody knows and has likely seen thousands of times

Swin

Beastmaster

ChickenPaddy

Ninja terminator, bullitt, hooper, basic instinct, Soylent green all great and stuck to me. Weaving around all the other stand out eps previously mentioned of course

HumanGoblin

2nddd

Brando

Showdown in little Tokyo. Master pedo + bill oreilly + boogie nights all wrapped up together

Salmon

Knightriders. Tough to choose from so many killers (The Fan, Death Wish 3 and Any Seagal jumped to mind) but for me Knightriders gets at something extra special. Beyond the Boyz patented yucks and diamond-hard cinematic analysis this one revealed something pure and unsullied, something bright and clear-eyed living in the hearts of the ABZ. They seemed changed by the end of the ep, and so was I. Like 6months of man therapy in three mystical hours.

Haunted Screen

That was my suggestion too. It's got such a good cold open and lots of Val Verde talk. "Hey Cole, fuck my wife" - an all timer that doesn't get enough love

Frosty peaches

I’d have to pick Tombstone / Major League or Lawnmower Man. I’ve played snippets for people who don’t listen to podcast and they enjoyed themselves on those easy.

Cee

I just listened to the Last Starfighter episode, and Holy shit, the Chet Hanks bit is hilarious. Prime ABZ. Plus it's not super long

Gary Lott

"Dar fucked us"

Graham Arms

Days of Thunder, great movie and a hilarious episode that I will reposted too. But best bet may be to see what movie has the highest activity on YouTube and post that on there.

Michael Quinn

Anything that introduces coked up gwyldor to more people

Don Lentile

Samurai Cop or Megaforce if you want to lure the So Bad it's Good crowd, Sorcerer or Day of the Jackal for the 70's forgotten gem crowd.

eponymouse_ponymouse

Day of the Jackal for the Killers of the Flower Moon rant alone.

Kelsey Orion Hyde

Anything with Charles Bronson Ben’s impression gets me every time

Ben Tramer

This is a great idea!

Marley Soluna

I wish there was a way to do a yearly poll on here. Like comedy bang bang does. Also adding Omega man since others suggested. Probably not the best with the Audio issues but I relisten to that ep so much.

IssaHotdogaSandwich

Duel to the Death, on a relistening spree right now while I'm at work (jewelry repair, in case you're curious) and this episode had lots of riffs, story telling, and the kind of genuine conversation that makes this podcast so much more than just a movie recap podcast. I think it would give new (broke) listeners a chance to experience a taste of what modern ActionBoyz is like, and is funny enough to make people that are on the fence take the plunge.

Ciscokid

Rocky 3 is one of the funniest. The bit about Mr. T and his roommate is something I go back to regularly. Edit: It's the cold open that confuses people you try to recommend it to. Some don't get past it. Don't get me wrong, it confuses me too, but I'm certified stupid. Still funny though..

The Buffmaster

Just in time for Christmas

J D

Beverly Hills Cop 2

Jennifer

Also a lot of good, light hearted incest talk in that ep, so that's nice to have out from behind the paywall 😂😂

Loose Goose

I just dug up the monster squad ep, and "huge negligee" had me fucking DYING

Loose Goose

Also Knightriders

Shaun Boyle

Lawnmower Man, Rudy or Sorcerer

Shaun Boyle

Where did the Charles Bronson impression start? Mr Majestyk? Either way I suggest a Charles Bronson.

Al-Insan Lashley

Double Impact. Chad and Alex baybeeeeeeee

Guy Knights

Days of Thunder - it included that bonkers story about the guy smoking DMT in the Sauna and had a lot of funny chat about the film’s crazy producers

Jonathan Lachance

Gotta be lawnmower man - as much as we all love cyboman.. sometimes the name “Dr Larry Angelo” randomly pops into my brain and I’ll just laugh,

Joe B

Best of the Best so they can hear the ‘meat up the fart box’ bit.

Irvin

Tombstone is a fun one

Owen RX-0

Victory or Rudy Love the pod and you 3. Don’t roast me too bad but a rom com month in February for Valentine’s Day would be fun. Call it LoveBoyz. Xo

Ross Kimball

The Omega Man. Gives us Rodgers’ perfect Heston impression. “Hello. Who is this?” And anything Heston will make a great onboarding point for my Grandpa to listen to over the holidays while he cleans his rifles.

WiliiamFichtnerOverdrive

Robot jox

Rudacris707

I swear I think about Stanger scatting at least twice a week. That ep is wall to wall jokes!

Frosty peaches

GI Jane. The Gabrus airplane bathroom story had me dying. Very indicative of how funny and ridiculous the non sequiturs are.

Jordan Czajka

The episode I always have in the chamber is Red Sonja.

BiPolarBear

For older episodes, either Cyborg or Darkman. Both pretty self contained and lots of good bits. They also are very similar to where the pod is today. For newer, Daylight (newish?) is a classic and Days of Thunder is a great Sportstember ep. For a Gabrus led ep - Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. For Stanger - Cuthroat Island. I may listen too much.

Secunda Nocta

I'm listening to Starship Troopers right now, and it's funny as hell

Daniel the spaniel

Death Wish is probably my favorite episode, this has my vote

sungodsinexile

I'd go Terminator 2 or Point Break 1. Name recognition. 2. It's really cool that you remade some episodes and I think even new listeners can get into the pod through those eps.

Starz Platinum

Rocky 4

Paul

guy has a point imo

andrea dworkin for the weekend

Congo, Tremors, Death Race 2000. A great episode that is not overly long so they can ease into the longer episodes once they tune into the vibe of the show. 👏👏👏

Donald McCoy

KNIGHTRIDERS

Michael Tanzer

Fair point. I would be happy with either one. Thought I should go with a movie from ‘23.

Richard Trickle

I think you should go with Marked for Death. “Titty fuck my family tree”.

Brody Smith

Any of the Heston or Chuck Norris episodes from 2022-23 would be great for recommending the show to new listeners, or the re-do of Point Break. If you’re open to a Halloween episode, I love the Serpent and the Rainbow.

Dallas Schmitz

Could you drop the entire Death Wish series as a little package deal? Interesting as you recorded them out of order, there are some great Bronson's from Rodgers, early Fishburne and Goldblum appearances and it is the Epitome of Cannon films!

Christopher Davis

What if Cyboman was messing with his tech and opened a portal which brings back Stanger Gorgon and Stangerbot, but they’re from before the show started and don’t get the references? Honestly, any episode with Bronson.

Adam Mock

I agree, which is why i think Planet of the Apes is also a great choice. And it gives context for the Dr. Zaius/ Chuck Norris references throughout the pod

Bouk

Don't want to alienate anyone, so it's gotta be The Program.

Daniel the spaniel

It has a lot of impact on ABZ lore as well ☝️🤓

Nolan-Globus

Soylent Green would be a solid choice. The episodes are always better when the Boyz actually really like the movie and this fits that bill. Lots of great bits in this one as always and Rodgers Heston impression is one of my favorites.

Richard Trickle

Major League Baseball

John McClane

Underdog for sure, but man, I love the Glimmer Man episode.

Chris Davis

Miami connection

Randy ramos

Samurai Cop. Comes with a huge cult following already. Let the masses enjoy. (Also pls cover Fargo somehow tv/movie/I don’t care)

Alex Muraviov

I think it’s gotta be Lawnmower Man, there’s so much mythology from that episode alone. They’ll be hungry to know about Cybo-Man and they’ll lose their shit once they learn about Captain Podcast. There’s only one choice, do what you know is right. Lawnmower Man.

ShangDangus

I actually think Samurai Cop would be great simply because (as Rogers joked), it was written by Gabrus, stars Stanger, and all VO was done by Ben.

kodeeezzzy

The Fifth Element was a fun one and a movie a ton of people have seen

Shaun Anderson

I forgot that Gabrus’s audio quality is a little off in the Omega Man episode. Doesn’t bother me. But I guess it’s not ideal for a free episode :/

Kazoo Monroe

Lawnmower Man, Omega Man, or Samurai Cop.

Kyle Ainsworth

Lawnmower Man bc cyboman is my best friend

chill_future

Release Lawnmower Man to the masses. Kimono and Kisses, The Den Mother

Perla X. Caballero

Double impact is a great episode, and silk underwear is referenced quite a bit.

John T. Booker

I think my name gives it away but Striking Distance is a great episode

Waterdog_69_420

Even if it’s not your best ep by janitor standards, I would release the most popular movies or peek at what’s on Netflix. Off the top of my head, Heat

Kevin Fabrizio

Cyboman 2024

Julien Smasal

Lawnmower Man. It's an episode I would (and have) listened to multiple times, like Batman Returns

Nolan-Globus

Accessibility and broad appeal: The Karate Kid, Scarface, The Fugitive, True Lies, Cliffhanger, Kindergarten Cop. Niche pick: The Omega Man. The Heston impression is unimpeachable. “Who is this?!?”

Kazoo Monroe

OG Mr Majestyk, or the Tremors episode where Bronson ends up selling wet graboids

Mark Langford

One of the Death Wish movies - Popular movie of the ABZ decades and Ben's Bronson impression is funny in a way I can never explain to friends. The Fugitive - feels like a classic dad action movie. Lone Wolf And Cub -Classic kung fu and the whole Rannazzisi doesn't speak Japanese....Bat Spa bits are great. Sidekicks and Lawnmower man were also great

IssaHotdogaSandwich

I support the ABz idea of returning to early eps tht were commentaries, and the ones they most like (ex.T2,Lethals.) I also would offer hearing a revisit on eps Stanger missed, F/X(2) (revisit either; stanger missed sequel, and the OG was a really FUN ep). Bside: Batman89/92, or DROP ZONE.. When abz guys are together and hav a fun choice-of-theirs! (like someof these mid80sEarl90s,throbck70s) their energy mixes with the fun of the movie well, it makes for the best eps. THANKS

tmcms

Samurai Cop was really funny and recent, and the people who listen to movie podcasts have probably either heard of it or are game to watch it. Lawnmower Man was great but that movie doesn't have the legendary cult status of SC. Probably not Usual Suspects because it was pretty negative about the movie itself, and to draw in new people it should probably be something that people are excited about.

GanjaTattoos

The Rock for Ben’s Flash audition story.

Douglas Hahner

The Doughboys one.

Angstforthememories

If you aren’t under a time constraint to release this free ep, hold off for FIRST BLOOD! I’m sure it’s going to be an all timer. It will be a recent episode, it’s a classic mainstream movie that a potential listener is likely to have already seen, and it will be full of top notch Sly content. If not Basic Instinct, Lawnmower Man, Days of Thunder, T2.

Matthew

Manhunter. A great discussion about a great movie. 80s talk , Michael Mann talk, what could be better. Plus a title screen that” looks like Garbage Pail Kids.”

robert haynes

Sidekicks for "he's doing ok now though right?" about Jonathan Brandis

Connor MacEachern

The janitor in me wants to say Lawnmower Man, as it brought us CyboMan and therefore Cap'n Podcast. But for a wider audience, I'd say Usual Suspects or Basic Instinct, both great eps and wider appeal for the films, as opposed to say, Samurai Cop.

ZacB_AZ

Agree with a more recent episode to reel them in, Samurai Cop

crawwwfish

A more recent one would be Sidekicks.

FiddlersGreenDay

The Negotiator More modern, not too long, samuel l jackson rocks, good bits about spacey

Evan

Top Gun or Double Impact for more Batfleck content (in line with Batman Returns) “aquaman can you tell if i’m allergic to shellfish and that’s why i’m all puffy?”

Andrew Harrison

Deep Star Six is such a great episode, right in the sweet spot of what makes this podcast great.

Jeff Wells

It should be from 2023 (I know us Janitors like to pull EPs from the 2017 rubbish bin. But we're freaks.) It should have a fan/host favourite character like Friedkin. And it should have aired on daytime TV at least 100,000 times. Basic Instinct hits all the checks. But also, Lawnmower man was very funny.

JarredPalmer

Love the planet of the apes ep, but any Dirty Harry ep or a later deathwish would work too

FurstacheJones

Side kicks or lawnmower man

Alex

Kuffs and Majestyk are my all time favorites. Days of thunder is a great recent one.

Dan Wischmeyer

Something a lot of people have seen so they can relate it to something: T2 jumps out as a great choice.

Marc Davis

Kuffs. Turkeys. Enough said.

Nathan White

Rudy, or major league because they hit all the bases 1. Good movie that they actually liked 2. A lot of running jokes 3. It’s a sportstember episode so people can get the gist of the other theme months that they mention. 4. And they’re movies with widespread appeal

Cale Donk

Days of thunder

Craig Barowsky

Day of The Jackal or 3 Days of The Condor really embody the spirit of the podcast, how passionate all three of you are!

Simeon

The Fugitive. Something about Ford trying to find every opportunity to j-off makes it an all-timer for me.

John Sharter of Marz

Masters of the Universe and Desperado just to get the masses acquainted with Gwildor

Jake Darby

That episode was so good and a tight ninety minutes

Adam Kronfeld

Lawnmower Man. The cyboman shit is too good

Adrian Jimson

Firewalker, it's like a shadow wolves and regular episode combined into one epic podcast.

John T. Booker

Terminator 2 for one of the classic long running jokes on the podcast, plus it’s one of the most popular movies that most people have probably seen.

Tonya White

Side Kicks

John Leidl

Thanks dude, been trying to recall which one was the "The Gwildor Episode"!

CapnPizza

“What color’s the boat house on Eternia?” Might be my favorite line ever.

Benjamin Morin

Beastmaster or French Connection because of the story behind the making of the movies, and the crticial lens Rodgers puts on Friedkin. I have listened to both many times and laugh just as hard as the first listen.

CapnPizza

Mr Majestyk. The poors must learn about melons

K. D. Campbell

Mr. Majestyk. I’m obsessed with that ep like Bronson is about his melons

twhiz

The Negotiator comes to mind. Fairly mainstream movie with big stars, a "don't know how good we had it movie", ton of recognizable character actors, Chicago

Michael Proper

Lone Wolf McQuade. Perfect movie, perfect podcast.

Adam Lewis

Yes! I suggested Enter the Ninja when they posed this question in the Discord. I was always a little bummed at how quickly those characters disappeared from the universe. The Billy Joel cockfight run is just incredible.

Moira's Machine

Samurai Cop.

J Scully

He’s finishing off one of Delphi’s squirrels with extreme prejudice.

Moira's Machine

Give Lawnmower Man to the world

PizzaCrustPunk

Masters of the universe

KittyBittyButtStuff

For kinda recent eps I really loved Straight Time and The Net. For a really well known movie I just listened to Twister again last week and it’s really fun.

Taryn Reed

Sidekicks obv. Bang for your buck

JH

Desperado

Seamus Stevens

KUFFS, The Crow or Hard Times. Just quality episodes with great bits

MeekoCHAOS The Raccoon Boi

Death Wish or Death Wish 2 are classics. Beastmaster and Masters of the Universe are also really great suggestions. If i had to make a more left-field one I'd say Enter the Ninja. It's a satisfyingly insane movie and the ep is full of some of the funniest bits (I think it's my personal fave).

Frosty peaches

T2 for the greatest reach and also being a 2023 show, Usual Suspects because of the exchange, or Cruising

Corluka

I relisten to the Mechanic the most often, but any Bronson is great.

Flaming Carrot

Coffy, Runaway Train, The Natural, Surviving the Game would all be great ones. Not too many inside jokes, a couple introductions, good stories throughout.

Jon Hamre

Conan the Destroyer is pretty unmatched for me due to Malek but the best ep is The Program- the slow burn of the Gullivers Travels shit eventually involving Trump was probably the hardest I ever laughed at a pod

Raygun Busch

One of the death wishes

Daniel Boyer

Yeah this is a top choice for me as well

Corluka

Death Race 2000 is a personal fav. Pls do NOT release lawnmower. I try everyday to forget all about cyboman

Nic Bull

Planet of the Apes. I think it has to be a really well known movie if you’re looking to interest filthy casuals. The Omega Man would be a good choice too. Heston episodes are always very strong.

HappyBirthdayPaulie

There have been strong arguments for Cruising, Masters of the Universe, and The Lawnmower Man. All of these are great picks. I’m a sucker for Ben’s Bronson impression though, so I would have to say Mr. Majestyk for the constant melon references and weird old guy behavior (my grandfather used to salt his beer and also cantaloupe 🤷‍♂️).

Keithulu

Desperado aka The Gwildor Episode is a solid choice. If not that, I’d go with Double Team, mister.

Totallybrian

Lawnmower man, the world must know Cyboman lore

Sam Silsbee

I think Day of the Jackal would be a great one to make available outside the paywall. It really shows how awesome and effective the Boyz are at breaking down what works in a movie, what makes it great, in an extremely fun and hilarious way. It would be a good first listen for people because it shows how rewarding an Action Boyz episode can be. Plus, Day of the Jackyl is not a movie that gets much attention on other movie podcasts, so it's not like you'd be competing with other podcasts that have episodes about Jaws or T2 (as wonderful as those movies and episodes are).

John Arminio

This might be a weird one, but I nominate Menahem Golan's Enter the Ninja. It's a ninja movie, a Canon movie, and it introduces my favorite character (that, to my knowledge, has never made another appearance): Jazzman Frank. All of this in a tight 2:05.

RJ Belcher

Scanners

Pumpkin Pie Hair-Cutted Freak

You're not wrong, but i think that would be really confusing for a new listener. Maybe they could release both episodes as companion pieces?

Fan_of_giants_420_69

Sudden deathly is already on the free feed

Thomas Tiernan

Lethal Weapon 2 for that Lapkus runoff, baybee

charlie10vet

Samurai Cop was an all-timer

Will

Any of the death wish episodes. Just absolute killer episodes. That Bronson impression is impeccable.

Jake Pantalleresco

Terminator 2, just gives you the greatest reach possible

Jonathan D Lackey

Death wish! Any movie with Bronson in it!

Thomas

Cliffhanger. The dog squeaker toys that make orgasm sounds is your best cold open. Or Halloween, where you theorize Haddonfield citizens are in a sex cult and worship a satanic black goat.

Thatguy

Great shout, one of my favourite eps. "You squirted her" alone is a classic.

The Maori Dennis Farina

Lawnmower Man and/or Masters of the Universe. Strong fundamentals for the new listeners to appreciate the references.

Joe Nelms

Demolition man: for that doughboys money

Sour Diesel

I hate to be this guy but if the pick is because of Gwildor then Desperado is the choice; that’s the one where he becomes a character. And great episode.

Moira's Machine

Lawnmower man is a fantastic episode but I think it more appeals to current listeners. Terminator 2 is probably the best crowd pleaser.

Dan Mayhugh

either Beastmaster - Dar is honorary Action Boy / Man / Uber driver

hobbesthecat

I think The New Barbarians has the right mix of action and ass play to really drum up new business.

Gilligan(The marooned Ranchero)

Don't do Lawnmower Man, it's too good for those freebie scumwads

john b

I agree with several others before, Lawnmower Man would be a great recent episode to draw folks in.

Stephen Garner

Sudden Death! Got Van Damme, sports and Powers Boothe. “Let me show you MY Action Boyz”

Flappy McGillicuddy-Jones III

Knightriders! I loved the journey it took the Boyz on.

Frank Morris

Lawnmower Man (Cyboman) or Omega Man because the movie is bananas and the episode was great.

Nicholas Jay

The Yakuza because the bit about Johns dad talking about the bath house is hysterical

_highpriest_

Cliffhanger, Congo, Runaway Train and The Long Kiss Goodnight are all amazing. That was all in one month and just before Covid chaos so a nice time capsule.

Charlie

Jaws 3-D! Any Gossett joint always delivers. Your love for him and for the insanity of Quaid's coked out romance plot made for a great episode.

I'm Lester Holt

I actually think Samurai Cop is such a good time as a movie and an episode. I also second the Lawnmower Man calls just so funny.

Damian Gibson

Showdown In Little Tokyo. The strength of the Bill O’ Reiley/Master Pedo bit is an all timer. The entire episode is fantastic.

Josh Free

Congo. Amy wants to break free from the paywall.

Megan

This is a good choice too I’ve listened to that recently and it’s one of the best episodes.

Moira's Machine

Striking Distance has a little of everything, characters, stories, analysis…as well as being a bag of shit movie.

James J Mercurio

The September Shadow Wolves was really really good, the in-person eps have been 10/10 of late

Josh K

Lawnmower man cuz the ep is egregiously long and there’s a chimp

Of the more recent stuff these are my picks I picked a couple horror as well cus I think it would let the uninitiated know there are more than just action movies discussed. Warlock - it’s just a fantastic episode and a real fun movie. All of you are in high spirits and you can feel that you enjoyed the film a lot Lawnmower man - cyboman has become such a big presence and again a fun movie Freejack - again a crazy movie and I have personally listened to this episode multiple times it’s just a solid conversation that gives a good vibe of what the show is actually like.

Don't release The Thing, thats how you got my money.

Definitely the one I will be using to pitch people on the pod is Lawnmower Man. It's maybe the hardest I've laughed at an episode, and it seemed like you guys had a ton of fun with it. The past couple months have had a reference to this movie in almost every episode and putting this episode out to let people learn about Cyboman definitely helps appreciate the recurring bits. Plus if they are down with an episode of this length, they're up for the ride on any episode.

Zack Winfrey

Planet of the Apes is a good choice. Reasoning: Incredibly popular movie. Ben’s Heston impression. Presumably you want something post Gorgon/Bot (no offense meant Stanger). While I know you guys say the best movies don’t always make for the best episodes I feel like you talk about the movie a lot so it might be a better entry point for people than something with lots of tangent stories. (I would have said Beastmaster but I feel like that is already free).

Moira's Machine

The Ronin episode because it's mainly about masters of the universe

Steven Nuchols

One of the Friedkin movies, my choice would be Cruising (“it was jockstrap night”). Lawnmower Man is also just an amazing episode. I love how often Cybo Man has come up since then.

Dirk Dribbler

Second this👍

Dr. Bigfoot

Masters of the Universe

James Mclaughlin

The cruising episode is an all timer. Rogers' Friedkin is incredible, but the discussion on queer representation at the time is very interesting and thoughtful. I think this ep shows the best the pod has to offer

CromFourWinds

Of recent ones, Lawnmower Man because of Cyboman, or Day of the Jackal cause it’s a cool ass movie and the episode has fantastic tangents. Third choice, Knightriders cause it also fucking rules, and is leaving Criterion Channel this month.

Kevin Quillinan

Your episode on “The Rock” is one of the absolute funniest in your back catalog. The jokes and the stories are all on point, and there’s no post-pandemic malaise.

Fred Skull

T2 Redux is an obvious choice but I need to personally nominate Knightriders. Y’all’s unexpected love for the movie is really infectious, Gabrus gets to talk Ren-Faire, and it’s just really funny

Timo Supremo

Dirty Harry

Bluvbot

Release ‘the program.’ eps longer than 3hrs became pretty reg after this. For me it’s a strong selling point for long commutes.

Drew Hellenthal

Cyboman now part of ABZ cannon is hard to ignore

hobbesthecat

This may be recency bias, and I know it is Octooky rather than regular action, but Lawnmower Man is such a concentrated expression of what is great about this show. And would be extra generous to give away one that long. It has also inspired your new mascot.

David D.

The Last Starfighter. I listen to this ep almost weekly. It’s quality the whole way through and Master Peado make a memorable appearance.

The fan

Not sure if it's a done thing but I'd love to hear the KOTFM story from The Jackal extracted as a mini-ep.

Michael Driscoll

Runaway Train!

Ted Heffner

One of the Friedkin movies (maybe french connection) cause i think Bens Friedkin is the funniest thing i can think of and its how i convinced 3 people to sign up for the patreon.

David Kormos

French Connection. It’s got of great Gwildor and Friedkin content, and it’s also obviously a great movie that is fun to hear discussed.

Sean

The Lawnmower Man, because Gabrus saying "Cyboman" should be exposed to the world

Ken Hanley

Stanger looks fantastic in this pic

alex d

No retreat, no surrender 2

Lucas Moreno

Lawnmower Man!

Andrew Lamberson

Rudy ep has some great Stanger lore and is also a pretty universally known movie

A cop

Planet of the Apes. It’s an all-time classic episode with good name recognition and plenty of Heston and Dr. Z.

Michael Galasso

Long Kiss Goodnight for a nice Christmas gift.

Brennan Loptien

Transformers

J D

Masters of the Universe, because Gwildor
