I went down a bit of a rabbit hole with this one, pun fully intended.
So, I was watching some video about how DC Comics constantly reset the universe (I wish I could remember what that video was!), and an out-of-place anthropomorphic rabbit piqued my interest. I did a bit of digging, and found out that back in the 1980s, there had been once been a confirmed cartoonish anthro-verse in Captain Carrot and the Zoo Crew.
The series ran for 20 issues but was not well received and was promptly ‘deleted’ when the DC Comics universe was reset in Crisis on Infinite Earths. The titular character wouldn’t reappear again until the early 2010s with Convergence (with a heavily altered back story, more divorced from the more light-hearted pun-laden original series) and then again, with Multiversity --- to summarise a very complicated series of events, various interpretations of DC Lore end up becoming aware of one another, with Captain Carrot himself aware of being a fictional character and breaks the fourth wall (possibly a nod to the original series in which his alter ego, Roger ‘Rodney’ Rabbit – later renamed Rodney for obvious reasons -- was a cartoonist, rather than a journalist, and drew his own anthropomorphic interpretation of the Justice League).
And that’s about it; I feel like I should have done a Casually Comics-style retrospective for this comic book journey… I’d drawn a throwaway doodle on Bluebird App but it took off majorly and I got scared. So I ended up re-drawing a better version of what I did before, and here it is for you Patrons to enjoy.
The End.
(I'm not 100% sure whether I'll draw anymore from that title, let me know what you think in the comments)
