How does he DO that?!?

Hey there - did my first time-lapsed drawing thingie. It's just a test and doesn't go through the whole process but thought I'd share it. If you'd like to see more, let me know!

Trying to figure out how to make this work better but until then, here's the Twitter url so you can see it there: https://x.com/YefSketches/status/1815831374345191427

Good, good, good question. I don't think anyone will ever do some beautiful, in-proportion rough nor should they try. If you look at classical artists, comic book artists and animators, you may notice that they kind of 'explore' the figure bit by bit. Keeping it loose keeps you from feeling like you need to commit. If the torso needs to be longer, push that as you go. Same with arms, legs and anything else. If you notice, near the end, I flesh out that one thigh a bit more as it looks too thin compared to the other. Watch this video again knowing that I don't know beforehand where exactly everything should land but I scratch it out as I go. You can always readdress a shape, a proportion, an angle or anything you want in the rough before you go in and make it pretty. Also, practice bouncing your eye around the drawing as you draw - does this arm look good compared to the other? Is this hand bigger than that hand? Does that arm go down to the mid-thigh mark like arms should? Are both shoulders equal distance? I guarantee I was doing tons of that while filming this. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask me anything else you'd like! I love sharing what I can.
