What are your thoughts on watermarks?

If you could figure out how to add them as clothing logos and such, and in such a way that you can't miss them without detracting from the overall picture, you wouldn't get any complaints from any quarter, I would think.

2020-07-10 20:01:30 +0000 UTCI absolutely cannot get into artwork with a big ugly watermark stamped over the top of it. Don't get me wrong, I understand the need for it, but blegh. That's a dealbreaker.

2020-07-10 19:25:22 +0000 UTCYou could put it somewhere in the corner, which would still be relatively easy to edit out (less so if there's a background) but at the very least that's another extra step for them to take. Could go either a simple logo or links towards your pages/Patreon. Or even a date so people know it's supposed to be public a year after. It's a tough situation either way, hope you can find something that works while also keeping your patrons happy.

2020-07-10 17:55:29 +0000 UTCI'm not opposed to a watermark but could you give us an example of what that might look like? Because I've seen some watermarks that other artists have done at times that are so in-your-face that they diminish the overall picture more then anything else.
