Commission - C0rw0lf: Progress

This time, I used the perspective ruler in CSP to get a rough idea of how the alley might look like. I didn't include the rough sketch of the wolf (it looked awful, trust me), but this is how he looked like before I applied colors on it.
I made multiple passes on the background, each time putting in more and more detail. The BIG difference in my process this time was that I did the background in black and white, and later applied color using a color layer on top of it. Unusual, but I think it kind of helped with the atmosphere not being too oversaturated!
Plus, painting in black and white is a lot more fun.
I tried to direct the fur more here, it's still a bit rough in some spots, but I think the softness shows in some other places. The light here overall is pretty nice, but I think I should focus more on hard edges and shadows next time.
The rest of the process is as usual, Just putting in colors, then slapping some multiply layers on it and hoping it's enough, and starting to overpaint. I played a lot with the rimlights on the wolf, trying to get him lit up enough so that the scene shows well without ruining the atmosphere much. Dunno if I exactly succeeded, but I think we're definitely getting somewhere!
