Hey everyone! The waifus video is going really well, though a bit slow.
Basically, I started the project as a simple video on waifus, their history, and some of the problems with them. It'd be very similar to my fanservice video in that I go over the biggest contributions to the culture before giving my own opinion.
However, I've now stumbled into a gigantic rabbit hole of internet forums, anthropological papers, and several full-length books I've read on the subject. And it's all very interesting and relevant. So I've been compiling all my research and trying to include a lot of it in the video.
This has lead to everything getting way more complicated than I originally intended. I've rewritten my script about 4 times now, and am currently starting on a draft that I don't even think will be the final version. It covers the history of waifus, moe, and the relationship between otaku and Japan's economy. I'll also be covering the psychology behind why someone likes waifus, and finally the problems with waifu culture. All of which will hopefully be backed up by sources and relevant info (or at least moreso than my previous videos).
For reference, I'm about 3000 words into my current draft of the script, and I haven't even gotten 2/3 of the way through the history segment. So the final video will be quite long, I think.
Because this video is taking longer, and I want to be more thorough so the final product is worthwhile, I've drafted up a thumbnail that I think will be close to the final design. Just to give an idea of what I'm going for.
I'll also let you know right now that this video will probably be the one big project that comes out in December. I'll also be doing my end of year recap and review afterwards, but this will be the last scripted video of 2022.
So that's where I'm at right now. I apologize for the wait, but I'm working hard to make it worth it. If you have any questions or comments, let me know!
