tRavel'd Eps 1 Rough Cut Reaction

Hey Peaches! It has finally happened! The Ouroboros has begun to eat it's tail. We're reacting to ourselves!

As some of you may have known, we traveled to Spain a couple of weeks ago to shoot a new project. It's a travel show starring Cha Boys reactin', reviewin', and riffin' as we take in the sights, and famous shooting locations, in a foreign country.

Our new friend Micheal, who pitched this idea to us last year, has been hard at work on editing our first day in Spain. So we decided to sit down and watch his rough cut and we wanted to share it with all of you. But this is not just for fun. We NEED YOUR HELP! We would very much like your notes on this. What works, what doesn't. Your favorite moment or joke. What would improve the viewing experience?

This is the most Behind the Scenes we've ever gotten. So jump on in on the ground floor and watch as we watch ourselves and help us craft this new project!

I'm late to watching but am excited to catch up. In order to be the most helpful I'm trying to watch it from the perspective of a viewer who doesn't know previewd (although I'm a long time fan). I agree overall it needs more context, structure and quicker pacing. A lot of that will happen during the edit, no doubt. Is the point of the trip just to see Spain? To visit historical sights? Try new foods? Visit filming locations? Setting that up will go a long way, as well as setting up who each of you are and why it entertaining to watch you experience a foreign country ( the emotional father and the straight man etc) Your banter is pretty good, but if I didn't know who you guys were I'd probably be like, why am I watching these guys wander around? Maybe an intro that shows a bit of who each of you are and some of your personas from the show. Maybe interviews with you guys that could be interspersed throughout. Can't wait to see what happens next! Excited for you guys on this new venture!

I'd agree with your assessments- it felt like it was missing the "mission"/destination of the day that all the other, more random stuff (or moments that would seem more random if the material surrounding them has to be cut for any reason) could be interspersed with. Using the studio as that framing device would likely facilitate that well. And though it wouldn't necessarily work with the material and structure you have now (you'd have to film specifically with it in mind), there could be something amusing to mine in the premise that only Jay acknowledges/talks to the camera, while Adam is Backpack Adam oblivious to the 4th wall Jay is breaking. ...until the season finale twist when Adam reveals to the camera that he's been aware of the camera and Jay the entire time. Main character reveal! Mwhaha! ;) As for my trustworthiness- I have it on good authority from my wall decor that my comments are the fairest of them all.

"we've swapped places" Literally, you're on the opposite side of the world, so on the opposite side of the screen right out of the gate. Wild! I agree with your instincts on tightening it up. Was there any B roll shot? If not, is that something Michael could do after the fact? It might be interesting to have an establishing shot of the locations. That could add a ton of time to your shooting days for the future but can be helpful to build the context. The sound was fantastic, btw! Editing idea for the babies in the window. Show the zoom into the babies first, then cut to Adam earlier saying, "anyone else see these creepy babies" I think making it less linear might work for some of you edits and I love the graphics and agree you need more. Looking forward to more of this!
