Doctor Who S1E05 Watch A Long

Hey Peaches! Hope you enjoyed the last horror film-esk episode, because it's time for another one. But who are the real monsters here?

Doctor Who S1E05 Watch A Long

Such a great episode. Such great Who. Ncuti is amazing. RTD and Murray Gold back with a vengeance. Absolutely loving this season and as they get more comfortable it's only gonna get better.

"If anything she lived more, WAY more." ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

the line that made my jaw drop was "I though you just looked the same but you [the Doctor] are him from before"

They have lived there since the planet was "cleansed"

Alternative hypothesis: Finetime was built using slave labor. The laborers eventually escaped or were disposed of, but not before programming the dots with the "Eat the Residents" protocol. There are a couple plot points that bother me: 1) Why use slugs to kill the residents when the dots could kill the residents directly and likely all simultaneously? and 2) Why alphabetical order? Someone wanted these people to die in a ridiculously stupid manner while terrorizing the smart ones that could maybe start piecing together what was going on around them. I have a harder time buying a sentient computer came up with this plan than someone these lot have personally wronged who wanted revenge. My alternate, alternate hypothesis: Finetime was built by Vault-Tec.

Btw the final scene with the doctor was the first thing ncuti ever shot in his era. Even before the christmas special.

The ambulance woman has been in every episode. She was in space babies on the screen. She was the tea lady in the beatles episode. She was the ambulance. She was the hiker in 73 yards (the one you were joking about running with sticks. Remember ruby said she thought she met her). She was even in the christmas special in the bar where ruby was playing music. (you made the ja ja ding dong eurovision joke when she made a song request). AND she was even in the 60th anniversary. She was the woman with Isaac Newton. This episode is nothing to do with the ambulance episode. Villengard is nothing to do with the dots. The dots were killing them because they were horrible, annoying people (and proabably because they were racist too). It gained sentience. It created the slugs by itself. The mystery woman... is the arc for the whole season. Most likely connected to the pantheon (toymaker/maestro)

Team Giant Slug!!

So both of these episodes, 4-5, are a bt Doctor lite because Ncuti Gatwa was busy filming the last season of Sex Education

You guys should look up Susan Twist, the actress who played Lindy's mom and the ambulance lady. She's been in every episode, even the christmas episode and the wild blue yonder special, and it's a big mystery why she's there.

I won't lie, I skipped ahead to the betrayal and the ending. The looks are your faces are everything. RTD is not my favorite writer for Doctor Who, but I applaud the fact that he put the first time Fifteen encounters racism directed at him in a futuristic episode and not a historical. Instead of 1800s slave owners or Jim Crow era old white men, it's younger social media influencers that you could easily categorize as not just racists, but white supremacists. It was people who create an echo chamber for themselves and refuse to look outside of their bubble. This episode is even better and more pointed on a rewatch when you know what you're looking for (which is a lesson in of itself to be aware of what's being said and happening around you).

Oh boy am I noticing all the little things a whole lot sooner on the second watch though ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
