Hey Peaches! Here we go! Can the Batch get Omega and the kids away from Hemlock and Project Necromancer? Who lives, who dies? What plot lines get tied up? And what comes next....?

Bad Batch S3E15 Watch A Long

You guys got me into re-watching this season again.

Yes, we learn in Rogue One that the Death Star's codename is Project Stardust. It has come up a couple of times since Rogue One, but it has been a long time since you've heard it, I'm sure. Also, yes, only Hemlock and his forces knew about Pabu. Surely not ALL of his forces are dead, so we can only hope that when they debrief the survivors at Tantiss, none of them had any knowledge of Pabu.

I agree wholeheartedly. It exists to show us a slice of life in the galaxy in the time after the Empire took over, showing what happened to all the clones there in season 2 (remember, Boys, when Senator Chuchi was trying to see to it that they were given for retirement instead of just being thrown away without a support system in place???), showing what kind of evil behind the scenes plans the Empire was up to, what with kidnapping children and experimenting on war vets, giving us context for why the rebellion was even a thing. We had four extraordinary soldiers, a special ops team basically, having to come to terms with who ARE they if they aren't soldiers anymore? It was easier for Wrecker, maybe, because he's always up for fun and his strength mutation can be applied to many everyday areas of life. But Hunter, Crosshair, and Tech were specially augmented in ways that make it harder for them to just become civilians. Tech's mutation made it more difficult for him to meet others on the same emotional level, which made it hard for them to connect with him. Hunter's mutation always has his senses on alert for danger, which may be why it's harder for him to relax. And Crosshair was having so much trouble with his hand tremor and becoming more frustrated by that because who even IS he if he isn't a sniper? These men have ALL killed for a living. Not just destroying droids, but killing other troopers. I just don't think everything has to tie back into the elements of the Skywalker saga to exist in the Star Wars Galaxy. Not everyone has to wield the force and swing a lightsaber to be interesting. Also, I think this show is our introduction to Omega and this is going to play a part going forward. I want to see her in live action, for SURE.

I wonder if Rogue Squadron will be rebooted as an animated show instead of the live action series that was scrapped? This would be a perfect jumping off point for adult Omega. This would likely take place between New Hope and Empire.

I mean I loved this show. It was beautiful and featured some of the best music the Kiner family has created for Star Wars, which is saying something given all the great music they've given us to this point. I loved all the characters and enjoyed the adventure of the week element. I'm always perplexed when other Star Wars fans talk about not liking that serial aspect since Star Wars was inspired by or a riff off of Saturday morning Science Fiction serials from the 1960s, right? It is literally baked into the structure of Star Wars - a feature not a bug. Dee Bradley Baker and Michelle Ang did amazing voice acting work in this show. As far as why it exists, head writer/executive producer Jennifer Corbett is a veteran and I don't think it's an accident that this show examines what happens to soldiers after they're no longer soldiers. Tackling that in an all ages family show is no mean feat.

I think this show has been a vehicle for carrying the bad batch from the end of the clone wars two the late rebellion. Because omega said that the rebellion needed pilots “now more than ever“ which for me would tie into when in rebels, they were having problems finding more pilots. So about when wedge comes into the equation. Or maybe a little bit after that. Which gives the ending of potential timeline of anywhere from slightly before a new hope to slightly before return of the Jedi. Also, I think the bad batch has been used as a vehicle to test, what characters audiences are identifying with and enjoying to see where the universe can expand to. For instance, Rex and his band of clones are a couple of episodes that really grabbed audiences and they’re definitely getting a show. Wanda Sykes and her character are definitely showing up in other things, although I don’t know if they’re going to get their own show. And omega herself is probably going to get if not her own show then a show that connects her to the revivification of project necromancer. Because it had to come from somewhere. And with Dr. Pershing being lobotomized, Mauthe, Gideon’s experiments failing, I think Omega is going to be used to patch some of the holes that came from the sequel trilogy in the same way that they Foni used clone wars to patch the holes in the prequel trilogy. it’s definitely a puzzle more than a roadmap, but I can see the pieces are there. And I know what I would do if I was felony and in charge of creative it’s definitely a puzzle more than a roadmap, but I can see the pieces are there. And I know what I would do if I was phony and in charge of creative direction regarding Star Wars. Which is leveraging his talent at weaving coherency through the current canon of Star Wars in order to enhance the appeal of Star Wars’ currently more under-appreciated works

If Seasons 1-2 had been as focused as Season 3, Bad Batch would've been very special, so I have to make do with it being merely 'good'. I also wish they focused more on the fate of the Clones than the Bad Batch itself, who really needed to be in the center of the action more. Oh well. I'm at least really curious about what the next animated show will be... Speaking of Checkhov's knife, remember that really cool crossbow Omega got earlier in the season...?

I honestly would have been fine if this was just it's own self-contained little thing, and probably see it in it's best light when I think of it that way. Except, it just kept feeling like they were teasing it being a part of the bigger whole throughout the entire series. If they do use this as a jumping off point to numerous other things, then I think it was a success with lots of nice moments. But, at this point, if we don't get more of "Where's Omega?", "What happened next with the bulk of the clones?", "Where's Ventress?", and just generally "How do these events lead into bigger things"... then, it really leaves it feeling meh.

I think the show existed simply because the Bad Batch was a fun squad on the TCW and fans were excited to see more of them and hey, they managed to thread some important references to the rest of the SW galaxy as we know it and they gave us another hero to look forward to.

Omega was wearing Hunter's bandana as a headband. Aw, cute.

"The Calvary Has Arrived" were the first words spoken by a member of the Bad Batch when they appeared in season 7 of The Clone Wars.

Your reaction to the lucasfilm at the beginning finally having sound had me laughing 🤣

Also there was an "Omega" reference in Rogue One. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1RUWtaOzVPg

Bernard Manansala

Omega had a skull patch on her jacket. Forshadowing her next appearance in Skeleton crew

I was so prepared to have my heart shattered that when they all lived, I still cried. I'm so glad we got a happy ending in a Filoni project. And I'm so glad you made sure to use "from the med bay" and "from the hallway" as the opener.

Aimee Lynn

I'm honestly happy that this show stayed more self-contained, although setting up a future for omega opens up a lot of cool possibilities. We'll just have to see what they've got in store for us.

Project Stardust is a nod to Rogue One and the Death Star. This show as whole was just ok in my opinion. It had some cool moments, but I came away asking the tv show equivalent of “Couldn’t this meeting have been an email?” Granted, it did give the channel some good running jokes i.e. “Omega from the Med Bay….Dining Hall…”
