August Movie Watch-A-Long Suggestion Theme

Ok Peaches. There's been one heck of a heat wave kicking our butts here in NYC...so for this next month's Watch-A-Long...We want your movie suggestions to be about anything COLD.

Takes place in a frozen tundra? Sure. The villain has his secret base on a frozen lake. Love it! Heck, maybe even a Christmas movie!? Get creative with these peaches! A film that will let us at least mentally escape this heat.

Drop suggestions quickly! We'll Be posting the poll tomorrow night and get this on wax on Friday. Thanks for being you, and for all the support!

Better Off Dead (ski the K12, Lane!). The Lion in Winter (remake from 2003 with Patrick Stewart and Glenn Close). Tim Burton's 'The Corpse Bride'. Neil Gaiman's "Stardust" (not cold, but modern fairy tale story with Gaiman's own twists). In the Heights (by Lin Manuel Miranda. It deals with the topic of beating the NYC summer heat in my own Manhattan neighborhood.)

Adam Pacio

Klaus

Melhypoer

Arctic. Survival thriller. Absolutely incredible film shot quickly and on a low budget that cuts away everything but the cold of the Arctic circle and the dangers of such a harsh environment. Very little dialogue, all the acting is physical and Mads Mikkelson shines in such a role. I'm unsure how popular it'd be but I think it's one of those cinematic experiences that sticks with the viewer. One of my few regrets is not seeing it in theaters, though it didn't screen in many places, as I can only imagine up on a massive screen the wall of cold white light would have been as engrossing as some of the shots in Interstellar!

For some reason I just come up with the two of you turning off all the lighting equipment and sitting in front of some fans instead with your gaming gear doing a game play session meandering through scenery in Sky Rim bantering about the latest trailers snacking on some ice-cream pizza.

Arthur Clifford

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind’s cover is a photo of the main characters laying on a frozen lake, a thematic element/moment that pops up more than once in the movie. I’m calling that good enough! Because the movie rules and I’d love to watch it with y’all even if you’ve seen it before

Jason Marbach
