Umbrella Academy S3E10 Watch Along

Hey Peaches! Whelp. Last episode. And it might be the last episode of the show that Jay watches. After the events of the previous episode, things look really bleak. With only a few good guys remaining, they have to take out multiple guardians and decipher a riddle set up by the creators of the universe?!?!?!?!  This finale is truly nannerboats.

I feel like if Allison is meant to be redeemed in the final season, the show *really* dropped the ball with getting across the extent of how traumatized she was from the racial trauma of being back in the past, losing her husband, and losing her daughter. They also seemed to just kind of... make her an idiot? You guys mentioned it in the first episode. At no point did I understand why she got dropped into a house clearly in an alternate timeline and think her daughter existed. The absolute BEST case scenario was this version of herself and Patrick still got together to have Claire—since it was before they knew about the mothers dying—so she'd have been kidnapping her daughter from herself? The sheer level of what she did between murdering Harlan in cold blood and intending to rape Luther—only stopping because his strength seemed to hurt her, not because she suddenly grew a conscience? Neither would have been excusable with more explanation, but if she were more clearly/believably traumatized it would maybe have been more understandable as a character arc. I don't think there's anything, including sacrificing herself for the team/world, that can serve as a redemption arc at this point.

Taken For Pomegranted

Yes Adam, Season 3 was truly nannerboats! Jay, I’m with ya man on being pissed at Show! I fully get it why you’re both not excited for the next & last season. Too many things were off the rails. What was the true purpose of the Sparrows other than being an antagonizing other family/team from a different dimension? What exactly was Christopher? Some backstory is needed about him for sure along with the other Sparrows. What’s up with the gold dust? Is it a life force of sorts? It was seen at the end coming out of them, it was coming out of Harlan and into Viktor, and it was shown when explaining the group immaculate conceptions. Was Reggie ever a human? How old is Reggie? Or, more to the point, how long has Reggie been on Earth as an alien? Reggie fired the flare from the wheat field in 1918 and died in 2019. He didn’t look over a hundred years old when he died. How/why is Grace a robot? Who is Abigail and why was she dead on the moon and now alive with Reggie? What’s on the dark side of the moon (season 2 reference)? Why/how is Ray in this new timeline? Is Ben still going to be a dickhead? Which Ben was on the subway at the end? Why time travel to the 60s exactly? (I love historical time time, BTW) Where is Pogo? Are Sloan and the other Sparrows with their respective families? Will they get their powers back? I could go on, as I have move questions. However, despite this show taking a huge swan dive into the bizarre this season, I am intrigued enough to tune in to Season 4. I do like this show overall, even after all of the questions. I’m invested now and pulling for a good explanation in the end by tugging in all of the strings. Jay, I’m sending good vibes your way for Luther to get the W. My wife & I love you guys and have enjoyed so many of your reactions on YT and the watch along here. We look forward to watching many more. Thanks so much to both of you for the crazy funny entertainment. Drew Smith

while I liked the other 2, I didnt like this season. The introduction of the sparrows was cool and all the side plots of luther and sloane getting together, or klaus finally figuring out his powers, stuff like that. However the main storyline was garbage. I would have liked to see something similar to the comics where the hotel was actually a prison for supervillians (that would have at least explained the weird people in the back ground) idk....I just hope they fix it in the next season. And no sloane isnt dead, odds are she and the other sparrows are back with their original families. the reason why ben is with the umbrellas is cause ben already was an umbrella in the original timeline before the sparrows and lila exists out of time cause she's a company girl. thats my thoughts anyway.

Genesis Rodriguez has said Sloane isn't dead. There's no reason she would be. I just wonder where she landed.

I love Umbrella Academy. Season 1 fascinated me like almost nothing else. Season 2 had its up and downs, but overall brought enough new things to the table to keep me interested. Season 3 just made me progressively more angry at the show. My husband and I left each episode with a more wtf face than the previous. The ending did not satisfy me, especially since Allison got her happily ever after without earning it, but I am interested to see where they're going. My assumption, based on what old Five said, is that they need to go back to the beginning and let Viktor blow up the world - or something like that.

I am going to fervently believe Sloane is still alive, just somewhere else, with her original family. Basing it on the fact that the other 8 is still there, though it could have just been part of the deal for Allison to have her Umbrella family, but if Lyla(outsider) is there, there's no reason for Sloane(outsider) to not be when they were both there at the end

Women can suffer the loss of a spouse & or child , and still not become raging psychopaths. This is a trope I’m tired of. Danerys, Scarlett Witch & Allison are all 3 examples of strong, kick ass female characters they’ve ruined by portraying them as mentally unstable beings who can’t handle loss. Find another misogynistic trope writers. Women can lose their entire world and still make breakfast with a smile the next day. We are built that way.

since you guys asked! :) i'm not really "satisfied" with the season finale but it definitely succeeded in making me intrigued for what's next. and the creator said he had a four season plan, so if the next is the last, i'm really interested in seeing how they land this plane. rn you're right, the bad guys definitely won which is upsetting to someone softhearted and needs-a-happy-ending like me, but objectively seeing everyone grapple w/ that should be interesting!
