Arcane S1E07 Watch Along

Hey Peaches! Act 3 has finally dropped and we're right back to the action, as all the players start to make their final moves. Victor tries something to save his life, Jayce tries to force a peace that doesn't exist, as Vi and Caitlyn try to solve the whole problem.  There's just one little issue with that, Jinx.  Oh and Ekko shows up, and he is a bad ass with a hover board!!!

Once again, thank you for much for joining us on Patreon for this watch along. If by chance you didn't watch our Patreon Update video that came out earlier, give it a watch. There's some new things we're doing that we think you'll enjoy.

Fun

Erik

The fight between Echo and Jinx!?! Oh my yyyy gawwwd. That entire sequence and THE MUSIC!? BRUHHHHHHH!!

CBDCDiva

I came for Arcane but I paid for a year, so you've got me at least that long!

Aaron Bland

First, let me say I'm happy to add to Jay's Mary Kay fund! Second, I'm kinda surprised you guys haven't mentioned how good Hailee Steinfeld is as Vi. Especially with how different of a character Vi is from anything I'm aware she's done. Great stuff as usual boys... keep it coming!! 😁😁😁

Oldish_Goalie

All of the Riot-related music videos and promo cinematics have all been amazing. Jinx's introduction promo vid from several years ago is super catchy, and she was even listening to it in the show a few episodes ago.

Alexander Kramer

The Ekko/Jinx bridge fight makes me so sad because... they were deep childhood friends. They should still be friends. And...

William Timmins

How do you fight a girl that's so insane she's willing to kill herself just to win

Mark Leeuwis

But like, this episode? That fight. That rhythmic power stance. Y'all.

Anna

Yeah they don't have to worry about the meta builds and all that. However it would behoove them to at least learn a bit about the champs that are part of the free rotation. Just so when they inevitably try to do some wacky build they don't become completely useless and ruin the experience for other players on their team. I'm not saying mastery is required cause that's absurd. Just knowing what a champion does, what their abilities scale off of as well as how the ability actually functions. Cause while fun is perfectly fine, they could end up feeling useless because they spent all their gold on items that do little for the specific champion. Honestly though going tanky with most champs isn't too bad of an option.

Squeeky Squid

To quote another fan of the show: Ekko was ready to kill Jinx. He wasn't able to kill Powder.

s22132

yeah that is how I saw it, he wasn't using his rewind time ability, He was just going over how they would fight when they were kids in his mind, and then used his defeats to figure out how to beat her.

Michael Barnes

Totally agree here. Less pressure, less stuff to keep track of strategy wise, and they'd get to try a bunch of different characters.

Will bonney

I loveeeed how that scene really captured the feel of his whole "get the most out of every second" mantra, even before he gets his abilities. He learned from their previous interactions and used her tendencies to win, and that is so Ekko in a nutshell.

Will bonney

Oh, and do you fellas like fighting games...?

Alison Hawkes

Spot on!

Alison Hawkes

Oh, and yes Ekko does have time manipulation abilities, but he's not quite there yet in Arcane. He was just running through what Powder would do when they were kids and figuring out how to move against her. It does show how his mind works though, which is extremely important. Shame he got all blowed up.

Alison Hawkes

Lol, you don't need me to set up some pipe swinging League mofos to hard carry you. We have an intro experience to at least get an idea of the game and some of the characters. And Templar is correct in ARAM being a fun way to play the basics (it's a single lane across a bridge with a more fast-paced style of interaction). I'd be happy to run with you. Just hit me up. Also, if you just want to see some of the characters, try Legends of Runeterra our CCG, which features characters including Jinx and is currently playing out an Arcane themed single-player campaign where Jinx is on the hunt for Vi. If you want to get a feel for some of the rest of the world, our new turn-based combat RPG The Ruined King concerns our pirate Mos Eisley town of Bilgewater and our spooky realm of The Shadow Isles (it's out for console as well as PC), but includes characters from places such as Ionia too.

Alison Hawkes

Play All Random All Middle, way more chill of a game type, and people tend to be a lot more forgiving than in regular mode.

Templar Armos

Man I am so excited for you guys to see the next 2 episodes, this entire show as a whole is nothing short of a masterpiece!

Bailey Malanczuk

As dope as it could've been saldy he didn't control time bcuz as u can see he didn't build the device that makes him able to do that yet (the device that he has on his back in the game) so it was just a moment to show his past with powder together and you can notice how jinx smiled when she noticed the clock move that he did at the start .

Cas

not quite yet. But it shows his thinking process.

Taylor Olsoy

Eps 7 and 8 are when Viktor lowkey became my favorite character. So damned compelling

Jason Marbach

Someone else said it... I dont think he was controlling time. I think he was just seeing how they fought as kids but was able to make the upward maneuver this time.

Jonathan Frederick

Great reaction guys! This was one of my favourite episodes. Ekko is such a badass. I am only sad that he is still not rocking that mohawk.

Leo

So I hoped ekko was gonna have dreadlocks but I was like nah he’ll probably have the same cut and to my surprise his hair is the dopest of all the characters and I got my next years Halloween costume

Seanjax30

Vi no where near as cool as Powder? Yeah yeah yeah. Cait's busy being a badass while yall argue over Vi vs Powder. lol

Jonathan Frederick

Fair warning... from what I see the League of Legends players are not happy with fans of the show showing up out of no where to play LoL. Apparently we all suck and dont know how to play so we should all stick to watching the show instead. Yeah... the gamer fans of LoL are toxic af... Ill stick to the show.

Jonathan Frederick

He can't control time yet, this just was both foreshadowing that ability that he will have, and was a flashback when they used to play as kids. The rewind was symbolic as how he remembers how Powder used to shoot him with the toys, so he can avoid the shots he could not as a kid

Nin

Fully agree with this. League is a whole different beast if you play it with friends just to have fun.

Leo

This episode is my favorite. Ive seen them all now. New BADASS intro. I was hooked from the second the episode started. Then we get to see Cait and Vi get closer. man I love Cait. Then Ekko vs Jinx and that badass song. Because of this episode I looked up the Arcane soundtrack and its a fucking banger guys. This is a good site with all the songs and links to the YT videos. https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2021/11/20/arcane-league-of-legends-soundtrack-songs-music-track-list-netflix/

Jonathan Frederick

Also just confirmed Season 2 for Arcane is now in production so HECK YEAH PEACHES

Bailey Malanczuk

So, Jinx is very Harley and Silco has some joker in him. Very Bat 89 that gangsta meeting with Finn. Wow, just wow this is so good.

TakumiUK

Loved that we got to watch your reaction to the Ekko/Jinx fight without having to worry about cutting for music. If you guys do end up playing League you should try to put together patreon/subscriber/discord ARAMs or something instead of queuing up with randoms. Community interaction + less toxicity

DirkMcgurk

The song Jinx was humming at the end of the episode when walking on the bridge refers to the song she was singing in the introduction scene from Vi & Jinx as childs on the same bridge

Kaygu

Ekko wasn't actually controlling time there; the part where young Jinx and Ekko fight is just Ekko remembering how he and Jinx used to fight as kids(and planning his moves around that knowledge). That scene and the stopwatch Ekko keeps with him are definitely foreshadowing, though.

Cal Fuchs

From what I know, Ekko didnt use his Time Ability against Jinx, he just used what he knew from the past, where they played this game alot, against her. They just made it look like that as a refrence to his in game kit imo. I base this on (maybe spoiler) the fact that Ekkos Abilities, that are time based, are powered by a Hextech tool, that he clearly doesnt have yet. ^^

T-Senpai

Well, I'm not the kind of person that doesn't admit he was wrong. It was Ekko on the overboard. I stand corrected. I already watched the 2 other episodes and can't wait to get to episode 9. Another theory was confirmed with a 2 second shot. It goes so fast, that I needed to rewind and pause it. Anyway. Love the content, best choice I ever made to join you guys Patreon and will stick around for sure. Love both your energy and insights on shows. PS. I do think that The Legend of Vox Machina, that comes out in February 2022 on Prime will be has good, if not better than Arcane and Invincible. You guys should really check it out. Would probably be a Patreon only thing.

Thierry Fournier

League of Legends is a hard game to step in to. There are more than 150 characters to learn. But there are a lot of other games in the Runeterra universe (like Team Fight Tactic, Legends of Runeterra, or even a mobile version of LoL Wild Rift)

Kaygu

season 2 got announced to be in production SO YAYYYY

Jasmin Baus

I agree, I do not believe it was time control in use, they were just reenacting a past game they used to do as kids with paintball guns and swords.

Brian Mifsud

Worst thing about this show is that it is going to persuade people to try out league.

Jack Fuerstenberg

and also an awesome nod at his future abilities!

Dominique Spruyt

Ekko stole every scene he was in for me. A really cool character.

Josh Hutt

Well, technically Ekko didn't control time in that fight. It was a creative way to show what once was game between friends become fight to the death
