2021-01-05 07:27:56 +0000 UTC*deep inhale* Alright! I return, freshly post-listen. Everything about this is just... so beyond my expectations, I don't even know where to begin. When the first casting calls went up with available scripts, I remember reading them over and over, trying to imagine how they would sound, and hearing each one trickle in over the course of the episode, now brought to life by these truly incredible va’s, was more intense and visceral than I could have hoped. I'm in love with the juxtaposing of the mundane and the ritualistic and absurd and grotesque, jumping from Carpenter’s gorgeous monologues to Faulkner’s green juice and pancake mockery, or the scene of the hotel manager griping and sighing about finding them a pamphlet, which got an out loud laugh, something I did not expect to do at any point in this series. You’ve done a masterful job weaving world-building, exposition, and in situ action while reserving just the perfect amount of mystery and prospective narrative. I feel like I know as much about this world as I know nothing of the deeper, more sinister substance, and it’s got me absolutely voracious for the next episode. Also just, goddamn that soundscaping! I think I was one, collective goosebump the entire last ten minutes. And in general, the prose was absolutely stunning. Just *waves hands* episode good, brain is mush, I can’t wait for more, this was phenomenal.
