The original only followed about 20% of the manga before going off and telling its own story. While this series follows about 95% of the manga, some parts that where in the original series are condensed while fillers are skipped.

However it isn't usually a titel the head of a country is given (theyr usually called president, chancellor, prime minister or something similar) and basically only Hitler was called Führer. This means that the word Führer is strongly connected to the idea of totalitarianism or even dictatorship. So yeah, it most likely is an indication that this Führer is at the very least a very powerfull and influencial person, if not a (low key) dictator.

2021-02-12 02:32:33 +0000 UTCThere are two shows: "Fullmetal Alchemist (2003)" and "Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood." Both are based on the same manga/comic, but FMA2003 eventually diverted from the manga and had a different story by the later half of the show. Brotherhood is a new adaptation of the manga that is more accurate. You don't have to watch one before the other to understand anything. Treat them as different versions of the same story, with brotherhood being what the author of the manga intended the story to be like in the first place.

Brotherhood follows the manga faithfully and is considered better than the original
