I really like your development of her backstory. The depth kind of reminds me of Wolverine or Vash the Stampede. Like she's been through some stuff and is just really focusing on mellowing out (when she can lol). Practice makes perfect, right? Maybe take some time to do some face studies and really get to know her. She might be the oddball, but people are strange when you're a stranger, you know?

And yah, you've pretty much nailed it. The grisled middle aged men with fun facial hair like Matt and Eli are a breeze, and the Jahanshah's just have crazy, serious faces with big ol honkers. So much to work with. MCW is my only character I'm deliberately attempting to retain a consistent softness to in every comic, even when she's disgruntled. A seemingly innocent cello nerd who goes straight home after work to water her plants, haha.

Maybe give her some war paint or face tats or something while sketching? That might help with contextualizing her expressions. Ha! Idk Is there maybe a purity factor, or youthful quality you're hoping to preserve? That makes sense in contrast to her monster form.
