Update #96 Hardvard University

Good evening. Welcome to this special broadcast pertaining to the nature of the issue we all now face. I am of course talking about the concerning lack of futanari-netorare games in the world. With us now we have Sir Gary Bummer, an expert on the subject.

Heh. At least in this one thing no one can claim I'm not an expert. I mean, how many people are making games like these? And there sure isn't a proper field of study or anything. I mean, sure, there are people with a PHD in futanomics, and there are people with one in NTRology. But how many people are crossing the boundary between the two? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Go and get 'em, Grassman!

Righto. Week's been solid, did indeed finish scene 11 and started on scene 12. The spicy scenes can be a bit tricky to make, since I usually just write something like "spicy scene between these two characters here where do they stuff along these lines: something something".

The good part about that is that the scenes get a lot of time to ferment in my brain before I start making them, so by the time I get to them I usually have a strong vision to follow. For scene 12 that's certainly true. It isn't always that easy and convenient of course, but it usually works out.

Did surprise me the first time someone thought my writing during spicy scenes was good though, since I basically ad-lib that really late in the process. Then again, I usually get more positive critique on the stuff I don't think through, as compared to when I put in a ton of effort and try to follow a bunch of rules on how to do things and what not.

In conclusion: Rules are for losers!

"Don't use the rules! They're not for you, they're for the fools! And you're a fool if you don't know that, so use the rules you stupid fool!" - The Clash

I really don't that quote is applicable here, see they were singing about...

I have actually been thinking about rules in writing a lot for a bit now. I've come to think of them as kind of shit to be honest. It's all "Show don't tell" and "Don't use adverbs" and "Use active voice".

If you actually follow a rule like show don't tell to its logical conclusion, you'll end up as a mime on the streets of Paris, getting baguettes thrown in your face. And not nice baguettes either, you'll get the ones that were baked weeks ago, kind of like dwarf bread.

Essentially, the rules are useless if you don't understand them. And if you do understand them, their only use is as a little memory thingy. In short, rules suck, better to actually learn things properly. I suppose that summarizes my issues with the entire school system.

And now I'm thinking of some poor fool who was sent to a death match in an arena and took the advice "The pen is mightier than the sword" all too literally.

That collar looks damn nice on Zavnessos.

Well, I hope to finish scene 12 this week. As per usual the spicy scenes are by far the toughest to estimate how long they'll take to make. You probably understand a little more why, based on this very update. And of course animations complicate things further. Though, I have been getting a lot better at getting decent looking animations made in a reasonable time frame, so that's nice.

Anyway, that's about all I had to say for this week.

Thank you very much for your support, and I hope you grind some rules underneath the heel of your boot this week!

Cheers! If there's one thing you can expect out of me, it's more Pratchett references.

Sir Gary Bummer

Nothing to do with the update (nice job so far, I agree with you too much to add anything of value) but I simply must pay my respect to a Pratchett reference. Not exactly where I expected to see one but I laud it all the same.

Dark Thought

For sure know what you mean there. Good writing you just read and things happen in your mind. Bad writing trips you up and you're aware that you're reading, instead of immersed in the story. Very happy to hear I'm managing to be in the first category!

Sir Gary Bummer

I haven't analyzed your writing while playing (a good thing it means it flowed well and had minimal typos) but I think you are good on the repetitive part as well, I think it helps that your spicy scenes tend to have more going on than a vanilla scene would.

Thank you! Cheers!
