Oi! Stop right there, pal. This here establishment has a dress code. Yeah, that's right, off with the pants! Much better. Step right on through, good sir.
As you can see, Grishla got something of a fancy dress for the party with no poll. I kind of forgot that she was supposed to have one, so I threw an outfit together which turned out to be somewhat lewder than planned. Ah well, she ain't shy.
This week I did not manage to finish a full scene, I'll need a day more I think. In my defense I did create six new characters, two new outfits (Grishla's and Donkey's), and also have had an annoying amount of crashes due to how much is going on in the scene. Anytime I get crashes it's a trial and error process to see how much I need to remove and change to get it to work without lowering the quality of the scene below acceptable standards.
Stupid crashes! Hmph!
It's not easy making a big party scene with limited resources. One has to settle for something of an illusion, unless one happens to have an absolute monster rig and ungodly patience. I just so happen to have neither of those. Instead I have a bunch of silhouettes with a few actual characters spread between.
I do think it works, at least for some shots and angles. Too zoomed out, or the wrong angle, and it looks dumb. Yet from other angles it looks almost respectable. Have a look for yourself and see what you think.
If you look carefully, you can just about spot the top of Sveida's head.
There are going to be a few more of these complex scenes, I do like challenging myself. Though, I suspect some of them might be simplified to save myself some headaches. It's hard to tell beforehand whether a challenging scene will be enjoyable to make or just a slog. I suppose it depends on the mood of the day and such as well. And whether shit starts crashing or not.
Anyhow, aside from the crashes this scene has been fun to make. Lots of setup for the rest of the episode, lots of characters to introduce, and lots of silly dialogue.
No glasses for dwarf-sized hands? How rude!
For once in my life I've somewhat managed to stay on top of my course work. I credit the discipline I've cultivated while making this game. No, that's not a joke, I'm being serious.
For the first maybe eight or so months that I started working on a game (a boring vanilla harem game), I really struggled with getting things done. As I had for all my life up until that point.
By the time the first release of this game came out I had built myself a whole system of discipline, routine, positive reinforcement, and caffeine. There were a bunch of things I picked up over the years, but I hadn't ever managed to fully put it together into a working system that actually helped me be productive in the long term.
I think that finally working on something I was passionate about helped me find the motivation to properly build that system.
Anyway, I seem to be a long way off from being able to try if ADHD medication will help me or not, so it's reassuring that I'm actually managing pretty well so far.
Thank you so much for your support, and I wish you a fabulously fancy week!
