Shareholders ruining everything. Your corporate suits only care about keeping them happy and many of them know very little about video games in general.

I remember seeing a comment from a Concord dev about the, uh, "interesting" character designs; apparently initially they did have cool ideas and much more interesting and fun designs but were repeatedly told by higher ups to make them more generic and less "polarizing". These shareholders and businessmen have no idea what the hell actually makes a good game. They'll churn out the most generic, inoffensive slop because they think that casting a wider net is better than casting a narrow net at a specific audience. AAA gaming died when big suits saw dollar signs and tried to engineer the next infinite moneymaker live service. They've never played a video game in their life but they're trying to ape what worked.

It wild this whole collapse started started with corperations being afraid of been called sexist and people being radicalized into believing they must change gaming from within to free gaming from sexist men and make gaming for everyone. Now we dealing with the whole DEI groups that siphon money from companies with people inside companies hiring their friends from those consultanty group just to lecture the dev teams on what games should include in order to be culturaly sensitive. Bet the woke stuff would of died faster if that ESG score thing didn't exist to monetary incentive them to keep doing that stuff.
