Im in California, I had a 6k drop in my income. I filed for a change in circumstances with the court. It took them 9 months to look at everything and make an adjustment. During that time I was told I had to pay the amount under the original order. I was literally threatened that if I didn't pay I would have my license suspended, I would have wages garnished, I would be charged interest by both my former spouse and the state, and if I missed more than two payments they would go to the DA for an arrest warrant. I racked up so much credit card debt struggling to pay it that I nearly had to declare bankruptcy which in the end still would not have saved me from my obligation to the state. Note...to the state not to the child. That's how they put it. On top of that, my former spouse made double my income and lived in a 3 bedroom property with greatly reduced rent, while I struggled to rent a room. After a while my child didnt want to visit me anymore because I didnt have space for her, and somehow its the dads that are the bad guys. Im all about supporting my kids, but if I cant support me, how can I afford to support them?

nope they sure don’t i’m in California born and raised on the playground…well nvm but if you’re not in the child’s life you pay regardless…I don’t have kids but have friends who are in their childrens lives and still pay hold support…moms have better jobs than the dads and still 80% of their check it seems goes to the mother because let’s face it the children see none of that money…still walk around hungry and what not and holes in their clothes…so in America you’re just fucked
