Pics 227: Walking on the beach
Added 2025-10-10 21:00:06 +0000 UTCThe beach scene in DAR1 was always a bit messy. The far shore of the lake looked bad, and I basically just used one blurry background picture for most of the scene. Now I have a full lake set to use instead, and it all looks much nicer.
But it wasn't completely perfect, the lake model doesn't have a beach on it, and the script calls for it, but I have a leftover beach prop I got for Ariane in Paradise, and used it, attaching the lake prop so it looks natural.
I'm using a 360° HDRI for the night sky which has a full moon, which doesn't match up with the partial full moon used in the telescope puzzle. So I found a full moon picture to use there. It also messes up the ski boat gag where the moon sets and you can't see the shore since full moons don't set until morning, but I decided I don't care.
An earlier version of this image was famous when the game was still in HTML. Even though I can't match the original, I think it turned out pretty good.
