After releasing the latest alpha version of Hopepunk City, I got a couple of comments about how graphically it is not an improvement on Ariane in Paradise and it is true. Hopepunk City was made in isolation using the tools I had to work with at the time, which is Poser 11 Firefly for indoor pics and Superfly for outdoor pics. Hopepunk City might be a step down because it is 80% indoor pics, while AiP was 80% outdoor.
Then I recently invested my stimulus money into a new computer with capabilities of doing everything in Poser 12 Superfly, which is the equivalent of iRay for you Daz Studio nerds. I decided my next project would be to improve the graphics of Date Ariane using the new tools.
But then I thought, why wait? Why not use these new tools and improve the looks of Hopepunk City? My initial hesitancy is that I have done over a years worth of renders the old way, how long would it take to redo them all the new way? Then I found some shortcuts in the conversion process. It isn't just a matter of reloading the old poser files and re-rendering in Poser 12, many textures will either look too shiny or just turn black, so all the textures have to be converted in each picture. But I found solutions to that by individually saving textures after conversion and reloading them, so they only need converted once.
In the past week, I have converted a third of the pictures this way, and about 20% are already Superfly, so I could have everything in the alpha converted in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, here's a sample of the new pics.
