The lumberyard owner was bragging it up as something that would change the world. Later my dad said that that saw would end up hurting someone. Sure enough, a yard worker took off his thumb with it a few months later.

2020-10-21 04:44:04 +0000 UTCFor what it's worth, I went looking on Google to find photos of how one of these would be mounted in a sawmill, and the second page listed under "swing saw" was the OSHA safety page: https://www.osha.gov/SLTC/etools/woodworking/swing_cutoff.html. It does have some good advice about how to use this safely -- namely, treat it like a propeller and don't stand in the plane of action.
